    3. notsharon, here is reason your not fitting well their were two dennis cokers. claiborn or claybourne depending on who did census and how well their spelling was lol. clay bourn coker had a brother named dennis coker he's the one who married sallid or sally jones as your seeing it. the other dennis coker is the son of claybourn coker and married a sarah clanton they this is shown in the morgan county 1850 census unknow township you will see on that census where claybourn and elizabeth hale are listed, but at bottom you will see dennis and sarah still living in claybourne's house at that time. Notice dennis is only 21 here and in far right box you see that him and sarah a. clanton were just married. later in 1860 census morgan county illinois pg 235 dennis is in own house then having emily, amanda francis, robert thomas, and emma e. as kids but their actually is one more born after this name riley h. coker he shows up in the 1870 census. the dennis and claybourn or claiborne that were ! brother were married in indiana but live in around morgan county jacksonville township area. in 1880 though the younger dennis picks up and moves to kansas territory in larned kansas. region. there are deeds where is shows dennis and sarah coker buying ups lots in the town dating from 1880 to 1885 plus it show where sarah a coker signed the reception log i am guessing this was for payment of having deeds drawn up on buying land because next to her name is a cost of $1.00. the 1880 census I have show robert thomas being there in 1880 as a farm laborer. an another 1880 census if i can find it has the younger kids emma and riley with dennis coker. riley h coker in 1887 and in 1888 riley h. coker had two deeds for buying acreage in the area of larned then was not a town but county wasn't either it known today as pawnee county kansas. In one dee it shows riley being from hodgeman county which if you get map you will see they butt up against each other. Robert thomas coker marr! ies a margaret eliza bowman and has 8 children the first 5 die from diptheria and are buried in in same cemetary as robert thomas and wife but in different lots they lived in hodgeman county oround riverside kansas the cemetary is calle riverside as well but is in ness county which is north of hodgeman county. the 1900 census for valley township whis is in hodgeman shows robert with last three children that lived fredelia grace coker , walter vance coker and fred lawerence coker. also there is 1900 censuses in pawnee county that shows andrew kensler with wife amanda francis but she is now going by francis a. instead but you will also see a maggie and effie all the way down to dennis coker are kin. effie marries a charles seely but divorce him from what i gathered from a decendant of effie she then marries a reddman and moves to arizona. dennis coker in 1900 census is now a widow his wife is buried in larned cemetary ne 5 corner. he later dies in arizonia after going out to help effie take care of her children because husband is dead and she has for kids this was told to me by betty hammer she is a decendant of effie from what i have learned from her or a decendant of amanda francis if i get this right effie was one of amanda's children. anyway dennis dies in pheonix az roughly with out glancing at paperwork in 1906 or 1907. How I figured out how to seperate the early census in illnoise was by looking at age differens when claybourne and dennis were there they were in 55 to 53 while the younger dennis was only in early 20's. though they are actually all related. hope this helps you out some. dwight stipes my aunts and brad coker and betty hammer help me get it worked out when i first read it on illinoise wesight they say their were 3 dennis cokers but after i looked at it i only see two what i think happed in one day younger dennis was at work cause he's marked as a laborer the two weeks or months later you see him in claybourn household census. this i think is what cause the confusion. gary eugene coker ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Sent: Friday, April 19, 2002 8:31 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Coker] Re: Cokers in Southwest Indiana This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
