Hello; Everyone; Thanks for the information but, excuse me, I see that this is not the direct line of my Great Great grandfather WILLIAM WARREN COKER. but, they are related in the older generation from Carolina. The names are handed down for generations , names like Joseph, William, Drury and Thomas. I see you have a Dicey bn abt. 1833, Warren COKER had a sister who married Wm. Wheelis aka Wheelas aka Wheelock in Washington Al in 1836. Warren's wife and oldest son, my great grandfather, JOSEPH JAMES COKER, named WARREN COKER'S brothers and sisters in an interview with an newspaper editor who wrote a history book of North West Texas in 1909. The people named in the BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH were GREEN COKER, SEBE (C. B. my note), GALLANT who lived and died in Waynes County Ms., GETTIE AKA GETTY (unknown gender), DIADEM and Mrs. WHEELIS who we have identified as DICEY COKER WHEELIS / WHEELAS mentioned above. I am the one whose chart is on Vol 6, # 933 of BRODERBUND World Trees. I have since found errors in my own information but as far as I am concern right now there is another Ceburn / Seaborn whose initial is B. that belongs to my WARREN's line. I have just found GALLANT's family, and his initial is C on his Confederate records not O as printED in the RECORDS OF THE ARMY OF THE CONFEDERACY. A brother - in - law of my mother's brother was doing his research on his TAYLOR family back in the 1980's and he deuced that Drury Coker of the 1820 Wilcox Al. Census was our WARREN'S PARENT. He was from S. C. and I believe the son of Drewry Coker son of Drewry Coker son of Joseph as named in Joseph's will along with "Y" John and Thomas and Calvin. I still contend this is Warren's father, while my second cousin, a great granddaughter, Anna Coker Davis contends Joseph Dempsey COKER is Warren's Father. I contend there are some errors on the part of the researchers who have turned charts into LDS familysearch because they did not have our Warren's information naming Greene, Ceburn B. mispelled as Sebe, Gallant, Getty, Diadem and Dicey aka Mrs. Wheelis / Wheeless information. I am working to clear this up now concerning the Drury factor. and the Seaborn / Ceburn B. Coker from Ms. who served in the Ms Inf. Since GALLANT LIVED in the Ms borderland county of WAYNE ACROSS from CHOCTAW CO.. AL I BELIEVE HIS BROTHER, Sebe AKA C. B. went there with him., but joined the Ms inf. while GALLANT join the Ala while they were in Wayne co on a mission. Our WARREN COKER stated on the census from Al. 1850, and 1860; Texas 1870 and 1880 that his father was born in Ga. but I believe that is in error that simply his father was born in S. C. about 1795 give or take a year or so. Drury COKER was most likely bn. in S. C.. WARREN COKER further stated his mother was born in LA abt 1803 to 1805 on the Al. and Tx. censuses. WARREN COKER married NANCY ELIZABETH WILLBANKS in SUMTER co. AL. in 1840, daughter of W. W. Willbanks who lived two household down from one ELISHA COKER, whose SON, ELIJAH married one JANETTE WILLBANKS. I believe this ELISHA COKER could be a relative of WARREN COKER who perhps he was visiting when he met great great grandmother Nancy WILLBANKS. My WARREN lived in CHOCTAW CO./ SUMTER/WASHINGTON CO. after his marriage in 1845, his oldest three children where born there. Choctaw Co. was taken from lands taken out of SUMTER CO AND WASHINGTON CO AL. SUMTER was made out of the CHOCTAW cession. Warrer and Nancy bought land in the St. Stephen's dist. GALLANT C. COKER's stated in his military papers that he was born in CHOCTAW CO. AL., but I believe he may have meant he lived there before he moved across the state line to WAYNES co. Ms. I am sending for SEABORN B. COKER's Army of the Confederacy military records as soon as I receive the proper application form. yes, I know of the COKER MAILING LIST AND THE FORUM as I am an old cousin and a member of the mailing list back in 1998. I have rejoined, as my address changed and I am just now realized I hadn't notified the list. Thank all of you for writing, and if you find any information concerning the people I named I would appreciated a post. Blessings A COKER COUSIN Evelyne This message may be forwarded to the list and forum.? ? ?
