    3. eveline, just curious about last name being crocker is that irish english or scottish reason i ask is because on english sights they say they mean different regions as well meaning the spelling of coker. gary e coker ----- Original Message ----- From: Eveline Crocker Sent: Sunday, April 21, 2002 5:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Coker] John and Priscilla Coker, Brunswick Co, Va. - 1759 Dwight and all; I know of Mr. Boddie's books and research. I have found he has been proven mistaken. He is writing mostly about the area and people who his Boddies knew. It is true we may have stem from one COKER, Robert but others came in after him. We are needing to know which son we stem from to have a true pedigree. And, some of the older researchers made errors is why all researchers ask us to double check their source. I send that Coker information to World Family Trees and I amy have been mistaken as to my Warren Coker's parents, but all indication points to Drury Coker of Ga who was counted on the 1820 Wilcox County Al census. He was born in S. C. in 1755, to Drury son Drury son of Old Joseph Coker. These old Wills and land grants and court records is what we need to prove our ancestor, even when people like Boddie publish books I refer to their sources more than what they write. It does not hurt to discuss old items again as someone might throw a new light on it. Yes, check the mail - list archives for information, which I myself have done before I wrote my current query. New members may not be aware of the old discussion in the archives.
