I am looking for information on Capt. Wm Coken/Coker who died in Surry Co VA leaving probably 4 children and a wife named Elizabeth who remarried to Nicholas Wilson. Capt. Coker had large landholdings which may have been affected by his widow's new husband. I also ran across a John Coker who may be another son or perhaps brother of Capt. Coker. 4th: 1678 Nich. Wilson is shown to be new husband of Elizabeth, relict of Capt. Wm. Cocken (Coker) a very large landowner. [Nicholas Wilson, was sued by some of the Coker children. No one is sure who was father of Nicholas and say he never owned land but the records suggest he married women with lots of land. They also don't know how he made his money, some thinking it was from shipping but no sign of that. Again the records suggest to me he was 'in' at the courthouse and was making money from widows and orphans of various estates he administered. A number of lawsuits were filed against him by various heirs. 1683 Nicholas Wilson is sued by his Coker stepdaughter and her husband, Jno. Dunfield for 1/5th of the estate. The suit continued on after the court tried to encourage a friendly settlement. By 1688, Elizabeth is out of the picture and Nicholas has married Margarette Sampson as mentioned in her father, James Sampson's will in Isle of Wight. 1694 Marilyn
