    1. Alphin Lee 'Charley' Coker
    2. I need help in finding the parents of my husband's ancestor, Alphin Lee 'Charley' COKER. So far, I have been unable to locate him in the 1850 and 1860 census. Alphin is living in Union Parish, LA in 1870, 1880 and 1900 and shows his birthplace as Alabama. However, the death certificate for his son, Lee COKER, shows he was born in Atlanta, GA. His Civil War records show he was paroled at Davis Co. (now Cass Co.), TX 06 JUN 1865. He was married three times. First wife was Mary BOZEMAN. Their children were Lee (my husband's grandfather), Mary Hettie, Willie and Lennie Etter. My husband's father said that that they are related to the COKERS whose house figured prominently in the Battle of Champion Hill in Mississippi but I haven't been able to find the connection. Below are census transcriptions for Alphin COKER. I will continue to search for Cokers in Alabama, Texas, Georgia and Mississippi in 1850 and 1860. I would appreciate hearing from anyone on the list who might have more information or give me other ideas of where to look. Thanks! 3. Sorry I searched and searched but found nothing. I did eliminate Philip Coker, Jr. as the father.
