I am going to jump in here with my problem. I had a McDougal family in Itawamba MS in 1850. There were two children born to Martha McDougal (no marriage recorded). They are listed in the family McDougal Bible as James Franklin Coker b. 1852 and Susan Elizabeth Jane Coker b. 1854 born to Martha McDougal. In 1855 they moved to Polk Co. AR where she married a Man named Hadaway in 1857, using the McDougal name. Does anyone claim two Coker children born in MS at that time? -----Original Message----- From: Beth Gay [mailto:bethg@integrity.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:14 PM To: COKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Coker] Believed to be descendants of John Coker of Brunswick County, Virginia I know that there are many people on our mailing list who have expended much time, effort, and money in an attempt to solve the Coker puzzle. There is a lack of family letters and Bible records for our Coker family that other families have. I am not an organized person but have a lot of data on various segments of this family not yet entered into any program. Is there a certified professional genealogist researching this family that could perhaps coordinate research projects and data done by the various family researchers? We need one central website or database devoted to our family. I don't have the time or expertise to do this but would gladly contribute copies of documents that I have obtained from various courthouses in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. There is also the added ingredient of the new field on DNA research. Perhaps someone could initiate a DNA project for the Coker family. We possibly could establish if there is a connection between Caleb Coker and John Coker.
