I failed to answer your question about Joseph Coker staying in Bexar Co. The answer is yes, he and his descendants pretty much hung around here for many years. I am historian and secty for the Coker Cemetery here. Two Cokers attend our quarterly Trustee meetings. Our cemetery is well kept. We have about 220 descendants who are on our mailing list. We send out a newsletter twice a year and have an annual meeting with covered dinner. We have about 50 who attend this annual meeting. Let me know if I can help.
Bob, While searching for that Alphin Coker I noticed that Samson and Priscilla Champion Coker were enumerated in the 1860 census in Bexar County, Texas. Is your family connected to this one? It would be interesting to know if they are buried in that county and if any probate record exists for Samson.
