    3. For many years I have wondered why the census taker did not enter birth places for this family when he was so diligent in recording that of every other person in Muscogee Co. (or so it seems!) I finally decided he did not actually visit that family! Maybe it was bad weather or they lived in an isolated area or the creek was swollen....SOMETHING kept him away from their home! Perhaps a neighbor gave the info. The oldest daughter in the family was recorded as "Mary L." In the 1860 and 1870 censuses, her name was recorded as "Masoura" and "Missouri." That reinforces my belief that the census taker did not talk to a member of Hiram's family....and he spelled Hiram's name "Hyram," as well. And since the census taker for the 1860 Chattahoochee Co. census wrote his surname as "Koker," I have wondered if he were of German extraction himself or just misspelled it. It took me about 7 years to ever find the family in 1860 because I never, ever thought of any other spelling than "Coker." Thank you for your suggestions.
