    3. NOTE: Bob remember this, 1810 Laurens SC, p.283, Dicey with three younger males (sons John, James and Joseph) 1820 Laurens, p. 014, son John with mother Dicey and son James p. 018, son Joseph with wife and two children under 10 who I assume are the younger sister and brother of Malinda Brown, Joseph's wife. Malinda's father died 1813 and her mother, Nancy, remarried by 1820. 1830 Franklin Co. TN p.63 Joseph with family and older female (50-60) living with them. Dicey would have to be 60 years old at this point to have son John b. 1789. p.63 James with family next door. I believe that there is a John in the family of Joseph and Mary Aldridge Coker as a son. There is enough documentation. You can not rule out that John married again or that John died or that John did not die and lived alone. In one state one can be declared dead after 7yrs of absent from resident and by witness. But did he really die?? do we have a burial site???? Yes, Dicey shows up as head of household in 1810. The name Dicey doesn't show up again anywhere in Laurens. We assume the three younger males are John 1789, James 1797 and Joseph 1799. Notice there is a gap of 8 years between John and James. Could have been that one or two brothers/sisters died or the first wife died after John's birth. We can't assume Nancy came up with the name Dicey for the 1810 census only. Dicey is nickname more commonly used for Diana, some other more complicated names ending in "......cias, etc.) Who came up with Annie Ratliff being another wife of John? What led to that assumption? The next problem is since Nancy was in Jackson Co GA in 1808 (dowager settlement papers), we could check the 1810 census - but it doesn't exist. Checking the 1809 Tax List, we find only Phillip and Thompson Coker. But then we can't assume Nancy would be on the tax list if she had nothing to tax. One other note on Jackson Co GA. In "Historical Notes by John Elrod" page 212. In the 1807 land lottery, a John Coker is listed along with Robert Coker Sr, who we assume is from Laurens Co. Cokers. Elrod states these records are the the State of GA Archives. So we have a lot of John Cokers with no way to prove who they are. Since John Coker doesn't show up on any other Jackson Co record, we don't know where he ended up. More later, trying to keep focus. More later, trying to keep focus on the problems. >1820 Laurens, p. 014, son John with mother Dicey and son James p. 018, son >Joseph with wife and two children under 10 who I assume are the younger >sister and brother of Malinda Brown, Joseph's wife.
