FYI -----Original Message----- From: Patricia Cantrell [mailto:pacant1104@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 2:34 PM To: SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SC] Coker Family-Burke Co, NC Hi! I got something last night entitled, "Burke County Court Action Against Suspected Tories". It is dated Oct 1782 (scanned transcribed image). It has a Charles Coker and a William Coker on it. It basically says that they must appear in court on charges of suspected treason. I assume from reading it, that if found guilty, then they would have to relinquish their real and personal property for the use of the public. The court was to be heard in January 1783. Maybe the RIP stands for Rest in Peace, which is what this Rip seems to be doing. I have been off the air for a while due to lightning strikes that demolished three modems in the house. The surge came down the phone lines. Also burned out the control box for automatic sprinkler system. One computer was just unpacked the same day. Such is life. Anyone have a line on John Coker who had wife Sabra in Laurens Co SC? They show up 1810, Deed Book J, p. 219. They are selling 150 acres on Middle Fork of Mountain Creek, waters of Rabourn Creek.
