Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVJ.2ACIB/1298.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: These dates are a bit confusing. The 1860 census of Tippah County, MS, 12 July, 1860, Page 70, HN 487, FN 483, line number 27, lists Peyton C. Coker, born Miss to James T. and Francis Coker, as being 7/12 year old. That means he would have been born probably in January of 1860, or perhaps December, 1859. The date on Union County cemetery census is 1853. I wonder if he backdated his age because of the age of his wife Rebekah? Peyton's grandson told me that Peyton died in 1948. Confusion reigns when searching old census records. Thanks very much for your assistance. You have been a great help.

MS. marriage book 18 page 124 I believe the dates on the markers for Peyton Coker are wrong, according to one of his descendants. The dates should be: January 16, 1853 August 27, 1947. Rebecca Noonkester Coker: September 28, 1856 1913. Both are buried in the Wilkins Cemetery in Union Co. MS. I do not have any dates for Hattie Robbins Coker.

I have seen it in many , many of the various Coker lines. I have two Coker lines in my family. Each of them had a daughter named Adeline. One line was Lucy Mahala Coker(1833-1905) who married John L Ivey in Hall County GA on 23 of November 1852. Their only daughter was named Adeline b 1855 in GA. The other Coker family was that of Simeon R Coker( 1819-after 1870) who married Susan Blankenship in Jackson County GA on 13 January 1843.Their youngest daughter was named Adeline Susan (1864-1937). She married the youngest son, John Anderson Ivey, of John L and Lucy Mahala Ivey. I have not been able to identify the parents of Simeon or of Lucy Mahala. Has anyone seen any information about these people. Family lore says that they were related but I do not know how. Joyce West
