Dwight , Ellen and Sarah are a census mistake , I have proven this , family numbers are not in order , the Jane , Ellen and Sarah on the top of the following page are not a continued family of Thompson H. Coker , I realized this when I noticed several of his children were not present on the 1860 census . I found my missing children on the top of a census page , but a continuation of the brown family . So you see the census was mistaken , photo of pages were out of order . I have brought this up with Lucy Wiggins Colson who did a paper on our Coker line , she now has the corrections . Nathaniel Coker's first wife was a Susanna Watson , 2nd was Mary Snyder Flake , who was a widow of John P. Flake . 3rd wife was a Tabitha ? Coker , who was believed also a widow .Dwight most of your information I have already , do you mind me asking where you got yours ? I have been sharing my information , but don't recall given it to you . Deb. HI, I looked at all the families that had James as part of that line. I found only one the even come close. The Thomas who died in 1818 in AL.. Of all the families that I checked they were the nearest to James's data. Can any one else find a James in the early Coker's of Alabama. You would think that if one was born in Alabama he would have family living there. I found no family lines that i would say was connected. James may have been born elsewhere. People have been known to make up info on Census for one reason or another. I have 8 or 9 other Asas that come close to this one. So one should eliminate all other and account for all other Asa Cokers. Most believed that Asa K. was born in TN.??? I had a real hard time reading the census as the rest of you did. Asa could be some other name. I would want more info before I would conclude that James (same James as James in Giles Co). same for him as Asa's father and that James was born in Alabama. I would think that this James as listed on this census was the father of this Asa & Siblings. I still have questions as to who several of the children are. My copy had a William at the bottom but there was x and a line for a signature??? I though that it was for William to sign/Signature :) :)??? I would not have though that I was another child.??? I Have a question about whether there is another Family there??? The Lidy & John could be Husband & wife??? and some of the children could be theirs???? Asy & Mary are the same Husband & Wife?? this may seem far fetched but still could be ??? should be checked. Any way wish you luck, TTYL, Dwight Stipes, (Descendant of Thomas Coker Rev. I studied on this census image for quite a while last evening. I could not make out the Rody or Lidy for sure. Best guess was Edry, female. I have John as age 20. Ann could be Anny. I decided on Asy for the other but never would have decided that unless I was looking for an Asa. Below the line there was a William age 2, who appeared to be part of this family. Looking for this James Coker in the 1860 and 1870 census, can anyone find him? Asa Coker's census data for 1860 and 1880 in Giles Co, TN both indicate he was born TN.
