This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: coker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVJ.2ACIB/997 Message Board Post: following my tree I am going back to my great grand father first which is robert thomas coker his wife was margaret eliza bowmen.... robert thomas coker is born in jacksonville morgan county illinios on 14 sept 1857. He's buried in ness city kanas .... now his father was dennis c. coker married to sarah clanton dennis c coker born 1829 in illiniose and also record shows marriage license # 1876 in morgan county ill., it shows he died in phoenix with 1906 next step show that dennis c. coker father was.... dennis coker spouse sarah jones what get for children for those two people is dennis c. coker and claris coker ...... in the 1870 cenuses it shows younger dennis being 24 and in the 1876 cenuses it show a dennis that is 77 years which by going by that makes this younger dennis coker 28 years old which if this were father son situation the father roughly had the child at age 49 some where i have a kink i believe. or is there another dennis in between these two? any advice would help from my under standing there is an article on this one that married sarah jones in the jacksonville daily journal this is what i found on illinoise sight but cant seem to get to micro fish to see this article and i think it can clear up alot of this issue.... does anyone have this artical? COKER, Dennis Died 15 Aug 1876 85 Yr 9 Mo 13 Da (There have been at least three males named Dennis Coker living in Morgan County. To read a very lengthy account of the death of this Dennis Coker, read the microfilm of the Jacksonville Daily Journal of Aug. 17, 1876.) Sally (Jones) Died 25 Feb 1869 Age 74 Yr Wife of Dennis Coker (She married Dennis Coker in Spencer Co., Ind. on Feb. 4, 1829.)
This information below was from a previous post by Brad Coker. Claiborne Coker -- father of James Wesley Coker -- was the son of Abraham Coker (not Issac). Issac and Abraham were brothers -- both sons of Joseph and Mildred Coker. Abraham's will names Claiborne and Dennis as his sons. Katherine Rambo's notes are not correct. This is all I know; Brad can clear it up.
