    2. SUE MARSH
    3. I probably do have these sibs, but not sure. I will try to hunt for them, and send them. I am not good at getting back. Bug me if I do not get back to you. This part of our Coker family has a family reunion on every laborday weekend at Stamford Lake near Anson. I have met a few of these family members, but not many. We also have our Willis/Coker reunion on the same weekend, so I have not attended theirs. I will send you the 1 addy I have from someone in that part of the family. I am not sure if Linda is decended from James Thompson or Henry Clinton Coker, but they were close by each other and I think that she would probaly be able to give you info from memory. Her email addy is [email protected] I will still try to look it up. I haven't heard from her in so long that it might not be current. Good luck, and do bug me if you don't get the info and if I don't get back. Also, let me know if you do get it from Linda. Oh yes, tell me where you fit in the puzzle. I would like all the info you have. Also do you have parents and grandparents etc. for James Thompson Coker? Surnames: coker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BVJ.2ACIB/1004.1.1 Message Board Post: please respond to this address [email protected] in regards to the url you posted there is two stories to that claim ones as you have it another says no that he serve side of usa. the other is who is joseph married too from my records he married a milly from other records some one else yest there is court document sshowing milly was brought to court and to prove she had four sons that were from joseph coker. and was granted his pesion. here's where i have problems with him fighting for england if we were becomming usa at the time why would a pension be granted to a traitor per say.? specially when this is around 1776. according to records i got joseph coker died during that fighting that is why pension was granted. this is one of the argument the other is two of his children isaac and abraham each side claims to have dennis coker and claybourne coker as son's. these two names shows up in illinois census which from what i have seen the person is same person not four people but just two differiation of spelling was used i! n census but kids remain same claiborne/ claybourne coker dennis coker but glitch her is claybourne named one son dennis but age does prove that and shows in house hold of claibourne coker. the two brother dennis and claibourne coker were roughly 53 to 55 in 1850 census and claiming georgia as where they were from now granted we have seen josephs name in 3 main state sc , nc and ga. this i can say is possible being revolutionary war was going on. my understanding is joseph father was charles coker and his brothers were william, charles sr. .... now how many women did joseph bed cause i am seeing about 20 and i have seen to records on here showing legal document showing he was on each side of revolutionary war? i have neither document in possesion because i am beginning to wonder if these are true documents... please if you have certified copies let me know. other is your showing william coker as 1720 from what i seen joseph was 1740 and william was born in usa charles sr ! was unknown and joseph was born in england.... this is why people are confused because acestory stemming around 3 brothers yet information is leaking from all sides. fact one says s.c militia now how is it william is with militia and yet joseph fighting for england your evidence but find facts dont match picture painted the other is records i have does not show william as william I only as william. even english records dont show sr jr or I II from what i have read. please explain your information this could clear alot of stuff for those in relation if that is possible. other thing is i have yet to find a census past 1830 that shows wife's name here in usa because back then wifes and slave were counted not given the rights to vote and such if you have secret we dont know about please tell use cause records dont show till 1840 to 1850's that i can see. dont take my remarks wrong but if you have a key please do tell before i go balled on this hehe. i do have records showing claybourn or claibourne coker comming for ga to illinoise even a book that states this but agument starts in the south wonder if ancestors were not related to the macoys hehe. I also know that sc is in conjunction with this with sonoco corporation being charles sr coker your help would be greatly appreciated if you can clarify some things on this. respectfully, gary coker

    3. shirley this is off of ancestrytree.com dont know if you have read any their but here is what another person put of james wesley coker ID: I130 Name: James Wesley COKER Sex: M Birth: 15 MAR 1842 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co., IL Death: 27 AUG 1931 in Republic, Greene Co., MO Note: James Wesley Coker was one of ten children born to Claybourne Coker and Elizabeth Hale. He was born in Morgan County, IL, Mar 15, 1842. He was reared on a farm and he married Maryu Elvira Robertson on February 21, 1862, in Jacksonville, IL, by a justice of the peace. Record of marriage is in Morgan County, IL. He was nearly 20 years of age and she was nearly 19. August 7, 1862, he volunteered for service in the Union Army with Regiment 101, Illinois Infantry. Private Company K Volunteers, where he fought until the end of the Civil War in 1865. He was with General Sherman in his "March from Atlanta to the Sea," which included the siege of Chattanooga. General Sherman's men carried supplies from Bridgeport, Alabama, to Chatanooga during the siege in the fall and winter of 1863-64, and James Wesley Coker was hospitalized both at Bridgeport and Chattanooga that winter and next spring, off and on, so he must have become ill due to exposure during that time. During the period of hospitalization in Chattanooga he became acquainted with a Confederate soldier named Coker, which mujst have been James Coker of the Coker clan in South Carolina, son of Caleb and Hannah Coker of Darlinton County, South Carolina. In Simpson's book, "The Cokers of Carolina," report is made of this man's injuries, and hospitalization as a prisoner of the Federal Army; his mother, Hannah, secured permission to be with him and nurse him through his hospitalization. A brother of this Coker was killed in his first battle, and another brother was injured, but recoverd. The Carolina James Coker was wounded in the Battle of Lookout Mountain at Chattanooga. Simpson ("The Cokers of Carolina") reports that around 1800 some of the South Carolina Cokers migrated to Alabama and Georgia, but does not give their names; we believe they were the immediate ancestors of Claybourne Coker, father of our James Wesley Coker, but do not have the names of Claybourne's parents. We know Claybourne had a brother Dennis Coker, but have no further record of him. I will search kansas census in hodgeman ness and pawnee county if i run into a james wesley their will tell you do know that their was other cokers in kansas territory way before my family so could be a group from them. here is url of where i found lot of info about illinoise cokers http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/index.html gary ----- Original Message ----- From: Shirley Sent: Saturday, April 06, 2002 7:55 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Coker] Re: James Wesley Coker Gary, Did any of your Cokers end up in Texas or Oklahoma? 3. No, I didn't see this one. Just sent off info to cousins, wouldn't y'know that something else would come along that quick. So, we have a Thomas. I'll be damned. I am pretty sure that this is the Jimmy that is the direct descendant of Wilson's son Thomas Hampton "Hamp" Coker that I wrote about not to long ago. Anyway, there was a Jimmy that Steve wrote to me about then I have noticed that there are two in the message boards. Thank you:) ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 03, 2002 8:41 PM Subject: [Coker] Re: Coker's in Honeapath > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVJ.2ACIB/704.795.798 > > Message Board Post: > > Michele, > My great grand father, Wilson Berry Coker had a son named John William Coker who married Margaret Autry. Wilson Berry's wife was Nancy Browning and I have good evidence that his father's name was Charles Coker and his mothers name was Lavina. I suspect Charles Coker's father was Joseph Coker. I further suspect that Joseph's father was Thomas Coker of Devon England. I hope this helps. > > Jimmy Coker > > > ==== COKER Mailing List ==== > The Coker Forum http://www.cokers.org/ > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >

    3. I would like to know more about Wilson Coker as Thomas Hampton Coker's father ? and do you know how Nathan Coker may possibly be related to your Thomas ( Hamp ) Coker family line? I know that my Thomas Hamp Coker b. 1825 had a son named James Coker whom they called Uncle Jim , I would appreciate hearing more on what you have on this Thomas Hamp Coker and who you have as his family , this is the first time I have seen another Thomas Hampton ( Hamp ) Coker and I am very interested . I'm a descendant of Thomas H. Coker ( Hamp) b. 1825 from his son Walter Hamilton Coker . Debbie Sheri & Bob wrote: > No, I didn't see this one.
