Hi everybody! I have a virus. NO don't hit your delete button! It's all in my head <grin>, okay so the rest of the old body don't feel to great either, but my head feels like a bucket. Everyone up here has it. My grandchildren were sweet enough to share it with me. Luckily it only lasts about 5 days, and I'm on day 2. Well, good news...bad news. Bad news first. I took all the marriages down. As I was conversing with a gentleman on the marriages I got to comparing things and saw we had just too many errors. As I told you when I posted them, they hadn't been proofed yet. So I took them all down. Another thing I noticed was that the copies that Debra sent me, up to 1911, didn't match the microfilm I have. Evidently the books were filmed at two different times and one has more info than the other so I am combining the data. Which is good news for us. Good news. I've added the marriages for 1870 through 1878, proofed and re-posted the ones for 1910 to 1912, all with extended information. I am working on proofing the rest of them and will try to have them back online in a couple of days. BUT if you had marriages in the 1910 - 1912 database, you will need to go back and re-check them in case they had errors. Some of the errors were just in spelling, but some had the wrong parents listed or the wrong date. So check them carefully. If you find any errors please let me know so I can check them again. More good news. I have added the burial permits for 1942 - 1943 - 1944. I've also added the Index for County Book 1, which is the first book in the County Clerk's office that transactions were recorded in. It has a lot of neat stuff in it. The earliest marriage recorded in the County was in 1862. I can hardly wait to delve into the other books. I bet that's where we're going to find some of those marriages that we can't turn up elsewhere. And in the meantime I'm still clipping obits from these old newspapers that I have here. I have gone through 2 boxes so far and I think there's 2 more large ones to go. Right now I have a VERY FAT file folder full. I sent a message to my guru that I need to know how to scan newsprint effectively. Then I found out he's in Dallas for a week. Of all the nerve! <grin> I'm also pulling out data on the Class Reunions and need to get that posted to our school pages. I'm still working on cleaning up all these floppies that I have downloaded alot of information on that I took off the computer to make room for other stuff. I've cleaned up over 200 floppies so far. One of my goals for the new year was to do some more interviews....haven't got to that yet. Why can't these people stay up all night? Sure would make it more convenient for me <grin>. Commercial....Has anyone tried these new Listerine PocketPaks? They are great for a sore throat! They're pretty neat. You just put one of these little paper thingy's on your tongue and it disappears. Think they'll pay me for this? Arleen Aguirre just sent me a photo, a beautiful wedding picture, that she can't identify. I'm going to post it and see if anyone out there can identify it for us. Give me a day or two to get to that. And still no one has claimed the box of memorabilia and photos that Wynelle donated over a year ago so I'm going to scan all of those too, and get them posted. I think we need an orphan photo page so start going through Grandma's boxes for any photos you can't identify and we'll see if we can solve some mysteries. Which reminds me...I still have photos to post to the cemeteries <sigh>. Geez, I'm tired already......<very big grin>. Can anyone please come over and help? (please) I'll share my chocolate chip cookies with you. Guess that's all for today's report. Let me hear from you! Karen Mitchell 2001 has been declared "The Year of "Love". Pass it on.
