    3. Send some my way Karen, as we mainframe operations say 'I'm not a typist, that's why I went into operations rather than programming", I'll peck away at the keys. -----Original Message----- From: Karen Mitchell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2002 11:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [COHUERFA] various records Hi members, I just answered a query from one of our researchers and it reminded me to let all of you know that my records are not exclusive to Huerfano and Taos Counties. In 35 years of research I have amassed quite a few records from other areas as well. The ones that may be important to Huerfano researchers are the: Holy Trinity Marriage records from Trinidad, Las Animas County. These are the early marriages only and date 9-8-1866 to 8-14-1884. If you can't find a marriage in Huerfano County in this time frame you may try these. (Sorry Bobbi, I already checked for your Bachicha's with no luck). Also the Our Lady of Guadalupe records in Conejos. Many of our families were in that area prior to coming to Walsenburg. As you may have noted we just broke through a brick wall on three families in that area. So if any of you have Catholic families that you can't seem to find, we can check these records also. As I sat there, researching the Holy Trinity records, I thought about the extreme desire I have to see all of these records go online for all of you to view. Maybe someday I will have all of them posted for you. I also note that there have been quite a few of the Oral Histories that some of you have ordered. PLEASE consider typing up the ones you have and sending them back for posting to our pages. Someday I would like to see ALL of these online, for free access by all the researchers. And besides that, they make great reading! Even if they are not from your own family, they tell stories of the early years of Huerfano County, which is interesting to all. I have tried scanning them to post them but the clarity just isn't there. So come on folks, if you have ordered a Oral History, please type them up for us so we can get them posted. Now that brings up another project that we may embark upon. As you know, obituaries can be an extremely useful tool in researching your families and rounding them out. What I would like to propose is this: I have several boxes of Huerfano newspaper obits here in the office that I can't seem to find the time to type up and get in the database. I would like to scan them and send out the images for our volunteers to type up and send back for posting. All you would need is the ability to view an image on your computer. What do you think? Do you think this is a worthwhile project for us? How many of you would be willing to do this? If I sent each person on our List 5 obits to type up we could sure make a dent in this stack of papers! And think of all the extra data we could post to our pages. Let me know. I have all kinds of little projects like this that we could do, all I need is volunteers that are willing to give just a little bit of their time. Hope you all have a GREAT day!
