Hi! I've been "listening in" on this list for a while. My name is Gayle Gresham. My great-great-grandfather, Enos Frankenbery, lived in LaVeta in the 1890's. I recently learned that he owned a mine in the area. A couple of weeks ago we visited the Mining Museum in Walsenburg and I was thrilled to find Enos mentioned in a book. Of course I had to buy it. I now have "La Veta: The First 40 Years" and "Coal Was King: Huerfano County's Mining History" both by Nancy Christofferson. Carolyn Newman was a wonderful guide at the museum and very informative. Then we drove to La Veta and visited the museum there. From the books, we figured out that the mine Enos owned, was in the vicinity of the Oakdale mine and were able to visit that area. It was a very interesting day and fun to learn more about the area. Gayle Gresham
