Here is a message from one of the USGenWeb Advisory Board Members who attended an information session on the 1930 census records: " I spent today at the San Bruno CA NARA branch attending a training day for volunteers who need to be equipped to help folks use the 1930 Census when it comes out in April.... First comment.... it ain't gonna be easy. Only 11 southern states are soundexed and there is no indexing. This means folks will have to use city guides and maps to identify enumeration districts, etc. The preliminary process was averaging one hour per record today.... daunting to say the least."
