    3. I called the Parish this morning and they were surprised to find they were on the internet. The information was orignaly sent to the Parish family to see if there was interest in reprinting this book. She was happy to hear from someone outside the Parish and placed my name on the list as someone who wants a copy of the book. If she gets enough names to want the book the Parish will have it reprinted looks like it's getting close for the reprint. "The San Jose Parish Council of Los Ojos, New Mexico, is considering whether or not to reprint El Primer Siglo: A Centennial History of San Jose Parish Los Ojos, New Mexico, 1883-1983 The history was published in 1983 as part of the parish centennial celebration that year. Authored by now retired New Mexico State Historian, Robert J. Torrez, the initial printing of 1000 copies quickly sold out. nearly twenty years later, the parish council is trying to determine if there would be enough demand to warrant the cost of a reprint and would like to hear from anyone that would be interested in a copy if the reprint is done. The book is 69 pages in length and includes numerous never before (or since) published photographs of this northern New Mexico region. The reprint will probably retail for around $20.00 and a discount would be available to retailers and organizations that might be interested in copies for resale. Los Ojos, which may be known to some as Park View, is located in northern Rio Arriba County and is one of the original settlements established in the Tierra Amarilla Land Grant, circa 1860. The parish was established in 1883 and served a huge area that included much of northwest New Mexico. El Primer Siglo remains one of very few sources of reliable history and information about those ancestors who emigrated from the Abiquiu region not only to the Tierra Amarilla grant, but to the 1870s settlements along the San Juan River If you are interested in a copy or several, contact the San Jose Parish Council at P. O. Box 6, Los Ojos, NM 87551, or Rev. Salvador Aragon, OFM, at (505) 588-7473 and let them know."
