    2. Yes, I do know intimately the history of Geronimo. Thanks for the links. I will enjoy them. I also know that where all my people came from in NM could have given them that connection. They all migrated to Colorado in the late 1860's and 70's which talking to an elder Aunt yesterday, she says they were escaping the reservation life. I also have an elderly cousin that says his Grandfather Abran who is my Great Grandmothers brother hid Geronimo at Hole in the Wall in Colorado....that they took food and blankets to them and that they were under his protection what ever that means...lol, my Grandfather also told the story of Geronimo hiding out at Hole in the Wall as well and he and this other cousin never met. After my Grandmother crossed over my Grandfather lived with my parents and he used to sit in his room and sing Indian songs and used to make us take him to certain areas so that he could get his herbs and sage and sweet grass to burn. I connected Maria Matilde to Huerfano thru the baptisms you recently posted. On the baptisms there is listed a Maria Ignacia Johnson daughter of Bernardo Johnson and Maria Matilde Salazar 1871. Maria Matilde's grandmother on her fathers side was Maria Ignacia Salazar and is the brides Mother listed in the Huerfano County marriages as a Jose Merced Tafoya marrying a Maria Salazar where Maria and Bernardo are witnesses. It lists the bride as well as the groom as being from Abiquiu. My Grandfather told me that my Great Grandmother was born in Bent Canyon she was born Sept of 1882 according to the cemetery record I have. So they were in that area for sure. I also have a land grant for Juan Jose Chavez for Las Animas County in1882 as well, funny thing he got the land grant on one day and the next day sold it to a mining company for $200.00. I am not even sure that was legal lol.... Nancy
