Hi list members, I went to the Post Office yesterday and was told that the cemetery entrances to both Brookside and Mt. Olivet had been destroyed. So the grandson and I grabbed the camera and went to investigate. It does not appear that any the stones have been broken or destroyed, they all seem to be in perfect order. But yes, the brick wall in front of Brookside had been knocked over and destroyed, and the wrought iron fencing and arch for Mt. Olivet was totally mangled. I asked the person that seemed to be in charge and he was very curt and rude and refused to tell me if it was an accident or vandalism. He also told me that they already had enough photos. But you know me, I took some anyway. Later all he would say is that someone had plowed into the wall and wrought iron. Well that was pretty obvious! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this person was just upset by the whole incident and didn't mean to show his anger about it, or be rude. The wrought iron was mangled beyond repair. I still don't know for certain if this was vandalism or just that someone had lost control of their vehicle, but I think it was an accident. Hopefully we will find out more soon. Again, I want to assure you that all the stones are intact, so we don't need to worry about that. Will keep you posted on whatever I find out. Karen
