Name Carlos Levi HICKLIN, aka, Rev Carl L. HICKLIN profession/job--Minister Methodist church, sold Bibles door to door [is much as I know] wife, Nellie (RAY) HICKLIN Children: Reginald Ray HICKLIN, Carlos Levi HICKLIN, jr, aka Carl L. HICKLIN. Husband/wife b Livingston or Crittenden co, KY. Ray b 1909, KY, Carl b Hoehne, CO 1912 Now the interesting part. Am trying to find illegitimate dau/son. Supposedly while pastoring, selling Bibles, he had an affair. A baby was born, sex not known. Woman died shortly thereafter. Time ca 1916. I don't know if Rev Carl L. HICKLIN is on the CO census. Because of her pregnancy or the birth, the 4 of them moved to NE Colorado, and then back to KY. If alive adult would be around 90. When I went to college in 1965, my mother was panicked that this child's son might end up at the same college, and we would fall in love. That didn't happen. Later on Mother told me the story. Thank you, Carole Beth (Hicklin) Arnette

Sorry folks but once again it's time for our semi-annual roll call to clean up the mailing lists. You know we always have to do this in January. Geez, has it been a whole year already? There's two reasons why we do the roll call. Number one we have to clean out any old mailing addresses that don't respond, and #2 it gives all of you a chance to post the names you are researching in Huerfano County, so that you might connect to someone out there that has the same lines. Please remember that if you do not respond to roll call your address will be removed from the List. So please respond to this roll call by posting: Your name Your email address The names you are researching. If any of you have a brick wall that you need help with, please feel free to state that also, so we can hopefully help you with it. If you want to share your family lines with others on the List, BE SURE to hit your "Reply All" button, not the "Reply" button. Thanks.....Sound off! Good morning list members! I got in late last night from a week in Denver and it's great to be home. I was so happy to be able to spend some time with my Mother, brother and sister again and the time away was fun but it's always nice to be home again. I have quite a few messages to answer so please bear with me until I get those caught up again. I love to see so many messages, it's so nice to hear from my researchers. So what have we got going on? I put up 22 new databases with extended marriage information and only got one response from it, so I guess I won't do that anymore. It takes a lot of time to build databases and then build the web pages to put them on but if no one uses the data it's pretty much a waste of my time. I wanted to get the whole thing online, from 1870 forward, instead of just the index that we have now, but if it's not warranted then .......oh well. So what would you like to see on the web page that will help you out with your research? You folks are going to have to give me some ideas here. Do you have anything special that you would like to see? I have a couple ideas for new projects that we can all work on, but I don't know what you want or need. What happened to all those interested people that said they would like to adopt a town? It sounded like we had some real interest going for that project but now that it's posted I'm not hearing from many of you. Isn't this what you wanted? I have a feeling that 9-11 really interrupted all of our lives, and I hope that's the only reason I'm not seeing much enthusiasm lately. But if there is another problem, please don't hesitate to bring it to my attention. I can't fix it if I don't know what's broke. This is the time of year when we see an upswing in activity on all the Lists, so let's get some communication rolling here. We have always had the most active List and right now the KY list is rolling all over us with activity. I haven't heard yet what 2002 was declared as, have any of you? I need to change my signature file. Hope to hear from all of you! Karen Karen Mitchell 2001 has been declared "The Year of "Love". Pass it on. Louise sent this to me and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did! THANKS Louise for sharing! Karen FOR COMPUTER USERS OVER 40 A computer was something on TV From a science fiction show of note. A window was something you hated to clean And ram was the cousin of a goat. Meg was the name of my girlfriend And gig was a job for the nights. Now they all mean different things And that really mega bytes! An application was for employment. A program was a TV show. A cursor used profanity. A keyboard was a piano. Memory was something that you lost with age. A CD was a bank account, And if you had a 3-in. floppy You hoped nobody found out. Compress was something you did to the garbage, Not something you did to a file, And if you unzipped anything in public You'd be in jail for a while. Log on was adding wood to the fire. Hard drive was a long trip on the road. A mouse pad was where a mouse lived, And a backup happened to your commode. Cut you did with a pocket knife. Paste you did with glue. A web was a spider's home, And a virus was the flu. I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper, And the memory in my head. I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash, But when it happens they wish they were dead. Author unknown

HI List Members, When we first talked about putting the towns of Huerfano COunty up for adoption, there was so much enthusiasm for the project and quite a few of you said you would be interested. I hope you still are. Here are the requirements to adopt a town: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cohuerfa/adopt.html Hope to hear from you! Karen Mitchell 2001 has been declared "The Year of "Love". Dear List: Happy, glorious, blessed New Year to the greatest. I am still seeking my grandparents relatives. They immigrated to Walsenburg in the late 1890. GRANDFATHER - GIUSEPPE (JOE) FLAIM married first to PAULINE PETROTTI when she died he married my grandmother GRANDMOTHER - MARIA PANCHERI Both were from Revo/Romallo, Austria which became part of Italy (Tyrol) after WWI. Their family names are: FLAIM, PANCHERI, AGOSTI, PEDRI. Also related to Giuliani and Malano. The grandfather and 2 sons are buried at St. Mary's Cemetery. Any help? My thanks, Jackie Lea Meissner

She was born 3/29/1881 and died Sept. 1969. I believe she was born in Kansas.
Louise sent me this (THANK YOU Louise!) and I think it's worth passing on to all of you. I put it into word and blew it up to put on my refrigerator. Karen Recipe for a healthy/happy new year 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This list includes age, weight, and height. 2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. If you really need a grouch, there are probably family members who fill that need. 3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, just never let the brain idle. 4. Enjoy the simple things. When the children are young that is all that you can afford. When they are in college, that is all that you can afford. When they are grown and you are on retirement, that is all that you can afford. 5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. Laugh so much that you can be tracked in the store by your distinctive laughter. 6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with you your entire life is yourself. 7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it is family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge. 8. Your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. 9. Don't take guilt trips. Go to the mall, the next county, a foreign country, but not guilt. 10. Tell the people you love that you love them at every opportunity. Remember ----- Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
