    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HYDEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nY.2ADE/197 Message Board Post: Granville H. Hyden was CSA soldier, captured at Cumberland Gap, VA in Sep 1863. Marched to Louisville KY, then to Camp Douglas prison in Chicago. On Apr 6, 1865 he was "enlisted" into the Union Army & in May 1865 sent "west" with the 5th U.S. Volunteer Infantry Regiment. First question: WHERE was the 5th based? Granville lived at/near Monument, El Paso County in 1870 census (unmarried), & in 1885 census for Grand County his occupation was given as "hunter". In April 1891, two land patents were issued to him (120 & 40 acres). By the 1900 census, Granville & his wife Dorthy were back in his original home territory, Lee County VA (no children). Any & all help greatly appreciated! Second question: Where do I go next?
