    3. Hi All, Since our STATE is in such bad shape I want to extend the time to repair your sites until the end of the year. I know that the holidays are coming up but that will give you almost a month and a half before we start into the holiday season. The first of the year we will do reviews again and hope that we see a great improvement. One of the biggest areas that I saw a problem is the new links to the state pages. That is a lot of the broken links plus old links to the USGenWeb Archives. Another place is the surname lists.. old outdated email addresses. There is no requirement to have a surname list and those could be eliminated. Those produced a lot of bad links. Set up search engines, make links to the RW Boards and your mail lists. Names of your Leadership Team... ASC's Colleen Pustola, Billie Erin Walsh and Pauli Smith as your state webmistress. The links to the state tables page was also another area where links were broken. Like I said, I am in this with you, I am not pointing the finger at no one. I commented on a lot of the sites and sent the "Swept Logo" for your sites. Everything is not negative. I am not a computer designer and I started out not even knowing what HTML was. So, please don't feel like you are all alone out there... you are not. Gail

    3. I did my own check on Routt County. It was a disaster. It didn't really take long to get the links fixed. On the downside some couldn't be "fixed". They just had to be removed. They were all to stuff that was there when I took on the county and the sites they led to were just plain gone. If your site has a lot of external links it's something you might want to think about. The only material you can count on being there for any length of time is what's on your own site. 3. I don't want everyone to panic.. run a link check yourself on your sites. We have used three different link checkers and they are all coming up with something different. I used http://validator.w3.org/checklink, Billie used another one and so did Colleen. At least this gives us an idea of where we stand, and believe me... my sites need work too so you are not alone in this. g

    3. Review are done. Many thanks to the ASC's for getting this done. The Leadership Team has decided on two weeks to repair the sites. My question is, what do you do with the sites that don't bother updating or fixing the broken links? I would like to hear from you as to what "you" think should be done. I would like to add that this state is in a sorry mess and the CC's have taken a long vacation. Pauli has run into to the sites when building the state pages, and the ASC's have found out first hand how bad things are. We, the Leadership Team, will do reviews again in two weeks to see if the sites have been cleaned up and updated. Gail

    3. Use Betty.baker@usa.net for now. I was using the Gmail email while dealing with some synchronization issues (with laptop and Smartphone), although not sure how smart I am with the stupid phone!! Speaking of which. Both of my daughters are presenting grand-daughters in the next months. Rachael is in Atlanta and having C-section Oct 13. I will be in Atlanta until the other daughter has hers. Lindsey is due Nov 5 and is in San Antonio.
