    1. [COGEN] Copies of Wills?
    2. Kristina Corey Fuiks
    3. Dear Friends; If anyone on this list could provide me with any advice, please feel free to contact me. My grandfather was born in Otero County sometime between the years 1929 to 1931. He has since passed away and we do not have a copy of his birth certificate. My mother went to the state office here in Denver with a copy of the death certificate and her valid identification forms and they were unable to locate a matching document for him. They tried searching on different dates, different spellings of the name, counties and so forth with no success. They recommended that we contact the county directly; which I was able to do, and sadly, no luck. At this point, we have exceeded my genealogical expertise with the state of Colorado. My mother recalls that my grandfather’s father tried to leave him something in his will when he passed away in late 1976. It is my understanding that when a person creates a will that a copy of it is filed with the county/state. What is the correct way in obtaining this kind of information? Would it be filed with the county or state? Traveling deep in genealogical waters... 1. [COGEN] Morgan County?
    2. Lee Zion
    3. Gail What is the status of Morgan County? Our list of coordinators reads "Megan Trew". Did Megan take over quite recently? If so I apologize for not remembering the announcement. The site consists only of an unfinshed index page last updated May 2004 by Heather Jones DeGeorge with the pages Vicki, Mary Ann and I did in 2003 and earlier as mostly unlinked supporting pages. 3. Now I get to ask who wrote the state pages? What were they written with, a program or by HTML code manually? Sundee needs help with keeping our state pages updated and I can't help her as I can't even get them to download let alone change code. What am I doing and what do I need to do to be able to help Sundee? AND, if someone else wants to help with the state pages I bet Sundee wouldn't turn down the offer. Gail

    3. Sundee has been working with Megan to help her download and upload the site and get it updated. I don't know if Sundee made the announcement yet as Megan is having some issues with the site. I emailed Megan this morning to see what was going on and if I could help but haven't heard back yet. I only use WS_FTP and Front Page for my sites and am not familiar with the ones that Sundee told her to use. If there are others that can help her get online any help is appreciated at this time. 3. Pitkin, Gail, I will take Pitkin County as CC. But at some time I will put it up for adoption as I have done for other counties. I have some local issues that are taking my time and spirit. A grandchild was recently diagnosed with extreme autism. We believe it was caused by vaccinations. Another family member is encountering serious medical problems. This is making me depressed. So, saying that, I will take Pitkin as CC but not permanently. 3. Jane's grandson went to Alaska and worked as a hoistman and a shift boss at a Gold Mine in Juneau. Personally, I feel the further away her family could get the better off they were to put it out of their mind. Researchers of the Kirkham line were shocked at my news. They didn't hear it in family history but Jane's kids were old enough to know what went on...unless they lied to them about her death. 3. CCs should always name their front page as index.htm The browser will go to that address and look for index.html or index htm I have found that some browsers will find, say Iowa/Iowa.htm, but some won't. So we have to line things up so everyone's browser will find our index page. donkelly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gail Kilgore" <gail.kilgore@gmail.com> To: <cogen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 04, 2007 10:09 PM Subject: Re: [COGEN] La Plata Co. > Thanks Don, none of the URL's that I had worked. 3. Thanks Don, none of the URL's that I had worked. COGen needs to be changed and RW needs to be notified. AND, Annie thank you so much for taking La Plata. It is a fun county and if you need help I have a granddaughter who lives in Durango and she has helped with cemeteries in the county. While I am on a roll, we have 9 counties that need to be adopted. Isn't there someone out there that can give a little TLC to one of the counties? Is our Wish List working? Don't we have anyone who "Wishes" to adopt a county? I would take on another county but I have been sitting Pitkin Co. and would like to be free of it. Charles, you want it full time??? Some of you know that I have been working my back side off trying to locate living members of Jane Kirkham's family. Yesterday, I reached that point. All the way from IA>CO>CA>WA>AK>OR in the time periods of 1831 to present. A letter went out today to the living wife of Jane's great grandson. And, I think there are more in AK so Don... I am in your home country searching. I bet some of you are saying, who the "H" is Jane Kirkham.. she is the female stage coach robber that didn't get any notoriety in the Leadville newspapers in 1879. If it is possible to rewrite history, I think I can do it. Just not sure which place to start and guess I need to get my ducks in a row before I tackle that project. Anyway, it has been a very interesting journey through the years. Gail
