I recently found out that one of my ancestors, Elijah SALMON a respective cattle owner in Colorado, was appointed Roundup Commissioner for district 3 by Governor EATON in 1886. Could somebody explain to me what duties he would be expected to carry out and if the post was an elected one or at the discretion of the Governor. At the time of the appointment Elijah, as far as I know, was still living in Coal Creek, Fremont County, CO would this have been an hindrance I ask because about that time he moved with his wife Anne northwest to Bear river, Lower Yampa River region, Routt county, could this have been in order to carry out his Roundup Commissioner duties. Any help would be appreciated. John Somerset England
