Yes im sure things are alot different there now. It used to be a 5.00 fine for walking down main st. with a lunch pail. Canon was a retire ies paradise. Mostly fruit ranches etc. Bud Chess s parents had a cattle ranch along with a few others. Bud Berry s dad had the only new car dealership in town. David FRY s dad owned the only jewelry store in town. One cab in town.(cottons).Bob and Windy Witchmans dad owned fawn hollow tavern. Cripple Creek was a ghost town as was Florence. The only thing in florence was a cat house. Sorry about that but true story. I dont know if the old Renfro place still stands or not. It was a big neat old building on 9th st. just before elm st. Di Nardies used to have a store on 9 th st. to. The royal george was free then to. My old girlfriend lived on college st right below the pen and skyline rd. Her dad used to sleep with a loaded shotgun by his bed all the time. They had a prison break there in 1947. Warden Best w! as the warden at that time.
