Fourty-seven years ago, I stood on the Royal Gorge Bridge, looking down at what appeared to me to be a toy train. Though it has become a faded memory, it was an awesome experience. Was it a tram by which we descended to the bottom of the canyon? I don't remember. The bridge will never be forgotten, but I have no memory of Canon City. As we know, the spelling of words do often change with time. Historical writings I've read on the Internet do substitute an "i" for a "y" in the word "Canyon" or "Canon." I was not aware of that when I posted my message. Thank you again for taking the time to respond. I plan to read more about Canon City; it sounds like an interesting place-- perhaps a good place to retire. Gary
