I went to www.denver.lib.co.us/ - Then followed these links: The Denver Public Library > Western History & Genealogy > Genealogy > Genealogy Resources > Colorado Mining Fatalities > Herivel, Nicholas R to Lockhard, James > And here is what I found: JONES, JOHN S Death Date: 1904JUN5 Nationality: WELSH Occupation: SUPERINTENDENT Yrs Mine Exp: Age at death: 53 Marital Status: M Surving children: County: FRE Company name: Mine name: FREMONT Cause of death/comments: STRUCK BY DESCENDING CAGE AT SHAFT I know for sure that it is the right person as I was able to find his grave site in Denver as a result of finding this information. I have used the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology site and was also unable to find any reference to the Fremont Mine. I am stumped, but again, thank you so much for your suggestion.
