While looking in the City directories for my family, I ran across Fremont Mine. It appeared to be a settlement with the names of people who lived there listed. The description read, "Also known as Bear Gulch mine. ACF & I coal mine situated 4 miles south of Florence and seven miles east of Canon City." The Local History Center will do a search of their records for $10. The staff is really helpful.
