He made friends with the Indians and shod their horses. --His son, William James, was born in Canon City, CO (Questionable??). --James Henry Mc was the first sheriff of Canon City, CO. --He later returned to Garden City, Missouri where his daughter Rosa Bell was born. --James Henry grew a large orchard & grafted his own trees. --Buried in the Index Cemetery near Garden City, MO. --While a sheriff in Canyon City, Colo he had to kill a man & never got over it. --Goldie Fenton used to sit on her grandpa's (J.H.Mc) lap and stroke his long white beard. I have someone from RAOGK looking up any documentation on James Henry McCollum being the sheriff.

I am new to the list & was hoping someone could help me. I am looking for more info & maybe obits on Anna Elizabeth (Peterson) McNicol and her first husband John William Ruoff. John & Anna came to Canon City between 1910-1920. Anna is buried in Lakeside Cemetery & probably John too. I'm not sure when John Ruoff died 1940 or 1944, but he was born 1875 KY. I have been researching my EVANS line for some time now. I just found some information that might have given me a break. I found some information on a cousin Anna EVANS SPOMER. In the information I recived it said her father Richard EVANS was a state sentator from Coal Creek 1931 - 1933. I am trying to find out about him. Can anyone give me any information about him or how I may find out about him. His wife's name is Susie JESSOP EVANS. Any help is appreciated. One more question my great grandfather John EVANS was a member of the Odd Fellows of Coal Creek does anyone have any information about them or how I may contact them and see if they have any information on him. An ancestor of mine emigrated to America in the 1850's, one George Temple, born at Netherton, Northumberland, England in 1831. His family were born and raised at Streator, La Salle county, Illinois. Two of his sons, John Stephenson Temple and James Franklin Temple, who were coal miners, moved on to Brookside, Fremont county, Colorado around 1900. Can anyone assist in tracing them please ?
