    1. UNGER, HANNAH FLORENCE CEMETERY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lY.2ADE/712 Message Board Post: Perhaps you can help me or at least direct me in my search. My great grandmother's sister, Hannah Schlesinger, born in Germany Dec. 1855, immigrated to America before 1879, marriedCharles Unger in NY in 1879, and died in Colorado. According to her late granddaughter (now deceased) she is buried in Florence. Three of her children were born in Colorado; /Siegmund Max 1889; Helen Sara 1895; and Alexander (Pat) 1897. Is there a Jewish cemetery in Florence or Jewish graves in a cemetery. She was born Jewish but could have changed religion when in America. Do you find in your county records a death of Hannah Unger or perhaps of her husband Charles. I do not have dates of death. I have not found living descendants who have any information about their anscestors (nor do they have any interest). Living in Israel I obviously cannot do the most obvious which is to travel to Florence and check for myself. Many thanks for any help you might be able to give me. Eliezer Kroll, Israel

Surnames: Eickmeyer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lY.2ADE/708 Message Board Post: I have a ship manifest that lists a August Eickmeyer, age 22 from Germany to NY to see his brother Ernest on the ship SS Pennsylvania Sept 7, 1907. I am related to Ernest Eickmeyer. His brother Henry is my great great grandfather. I am working with another woman who believes her sister's husband's line is also related. So there is possibly a brother Charles and Hans Herman Heinrich as well. We have not established the parents names to these possible 5 brothers but they may be Rebecca or Marie and Casper. I found an August with family in 1920 and 1930 NY census. I found a SS# for an August last residing in Fremont, CO, SS# from NY, dates 15 Jun 1885 to Jul 1976. If all this fits or you have some info in regardes to the above, please contact. Thank you.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lY.2ADE/705 Message Board Post: I'm seeking any information about: ORSON G. STANLEY (1838-1908) of Ohio, who moved to Canon City shortly before 1868. (His daughter Kate Stanley was born in Canon City in 1868.) His wife was Mary King of Ohio. They appear in the 1870 census of Canon City, and the 1880 census of "Arkansas River" in Fremont Co. He was a lawyer. By 1888 he had moved to Boston. At some point he divorced his wife. HARRY CASTELLO (1844-1937) of Rhode Island who went to Cañon City about 1878 with his wife Carrie. He is listed in "Arkansas River" in Fremont Co. in the 1880 census. They only remained a couple of years. Castello and Stanley reportedly were involved in the building of the Canon City water system (Previously, Mrs. Castello reportedly had caught Typhoid Fever from the old system.) WILLIAM WARNER DOUGLAS(S) (c1846 - 1920) who worked in Canon City from about 1878-1880 (and may have had an absentee business there for a couple of years afterwards.) All three later settled on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, where Stanley and Castello built the Vineyard Haven water system. Any help on these three gentlemen appreciated! Also any info on the Canon City water system, and also the location of "Arkansas River" as a place name in the 1880 census. Thanks! Chris Baer cbaer@vineyard.net Chris

    3. HI, I just did an article on the area of the Fremont / Bear Gulch mine in Williamsburg, Co. for the Fremont Custer Historical Society. The mine was first owned by Canon City Coal Company but in 1890 the CF&I acquired the mine. (Colorado Fuel and Iron). What name are you looking for. I have some names in the area if I knew who you are looking for and may be some help. BEV. BEVERLY HARRIS beverlyk2@earthlink.net

While looking in the City directories for my family, I ran across Fremont Mine. It appeared to be a settlement with the names of people who lived there listed. The description read, "Also known as Bear Gulch mine. ACF & I coal mine situated 4 miles south of Florence and seven miles east of Canon City." The Local History Center will do a search of their records for $10. The staff is really helpful.
