She was born in Fremont Co. abt. 1888, her parents were Thomas and Annie Cobley, she had siblings named Mary Elizabeth McCormick, Thomas Cobley, Matthew Albert Cobley and Catherine Cowan. Her parents, Mary Elizabeth and Catherine (Cassie) are buried in Greenfield Pioneer Cem in Canon City. Her brothers are both buried out of state. I know that Aunt Lillie had two children by Austin Thorpe, they were Austin and Dorothy. She married J. Hyrum Shawcroft in 1921 and he died in 1930. She then married again perhaps in the 1940s and visited us in CA. in the 1950s because I have photos of that visit of her and her husband but we don't know his name. I think they lived in Florence, CO. but not positive. Any help would be appreciated.

Fellow listers I am writing to you from England. I got your contact details from the Fremont County Website. I have discovered a collateral ancestor of mine who was living in Colorado in 1900. His name is William H Burger, and he was living at Fruitmere (apparently a railroad stop) in Fremont at the time of the 1900 census. Although only 35, he was already widowed, so his wife may have died locally. Are there any local finding aids that might help to identify when he was in Fremont? For instance, is there any state census around 1890 or 1895? Are there any marriage indexes that could identify whether he actually married in Colorado? What about local cemetery indexes? As far as I can see, he headed back East again, and by 1910 was living in Virginia. Any help you can provide would be most gratefully received. That 3rd husband is still the big mystery though. I thought I had Lillie living with her sister Mary McCormick in 1920 but I found that census and she wasn't in it. Two other names that have come up in my research as niece's of Lillie's father Thomas Cobley are Mrs Thomas John and Mrs L. A. Poteet of Florence, Fremont Co. CO. Another name that I found is Betty Jean Breitenbach as a Gt grand daughter of Thomas Cobley. I wonder if she was the grand dau. of Lillie? I know I have something that lists Hyrum Shawcroft as dying in the 1930s but I can't find it right now. Again thanks for all the help.

I am looking for information about my g-g-g grandfather, James Sullivan. According to his burial record at Greenwood Pioneer Cemetery in Fremont County, Colorado (as well as the Colorado State Archives) he was a member of the 34th Ohio Infantry, Company G. Enlisted 20May1862, discharged 15July1865. It also said that he was a member of the Colorado National Guard. He died August 10, 1897 in Colorado. The problem is that I am unable to find him on any lists of soldiers in that regiment. There are too many other James Sullivan's to determine which one he might be. The other problem is that he lived in Indiana in 1862 (he was born in Indiana in 1825), so why would he have served for Ohio. I am unfamiliar with the enlistment process of the time, so any help with this query would be appreciated. I want to try and order his records from NARA, but I have to make sure I am ordering the right ones. Can anyone help???
