I now have made contact with Maxcy J. Watson Stiles. She is 93 years old and still lives in Canon City, CO. There are other Watson descendants still living in Pueblo and the Denver area. Maxcy has a daughter, Margaret Storm, that also lives in Canon City. What I have found over the years of searching for descendants is that the connections get lost over the younger generations and then when the young people want to know more about their people, the old people are gone. We must write down what we know so that succeeding generations will know their families past. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I can put them in both Florence and Penrose. William was born in Wales and Mabel's maiden name was Johnston. I believe they had 2 children who were born in Illinois...but they also were in Fremont County. William would be my great Uncle...however, I never knew my grand-parents because of some family issues...and have no information about my family except what I have found through genealogy research. I have found information about the burial location of William and Mabel from the Fremont county website..and the census information...but I would love to find any other historical information...or better yet, any living relatives. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I recently found out that one of my ancestors, Elijah SALMON a respective cattle owner in Colorado, was appointed Roundup Commissioner for district 3 by Governor EATON in 1886. Could somebody explain to me what duties he would be expected to carry out and if the post was an elected one or at the discretion of the Governor. At the time of the appointment Elijah, as far as I know, was still living in Coal Creek, Fremont County, CO would this have been an hindrance I ask because about that time he moved with his wife Anne northwest to Bear river, Lower Yampa River region, Routt county, could this have been in order to carry out his Roundup Commissioner duties. Any help would be appreciated. John Somerset England

My grandfather, Joseph M Melrose was born at Wetmore on April 11, 1874. Sarah divorce Hugh and married Hamilton R. Bowling in 1879 at Rosita. They moved on to Pagosa Springs, Colorado by 1882. James and Joseph came later to live with them. Hugh died at Rosita in 1913 and is buried in the Rosita cemetery. I have copies of a photo album that includes twin children, Leon and Lester Watson and several unnamed people that may be Watsons. William A. Watson and wife, Mary Crouch, lived in Rosita in 1880. A son, Willis , lived in Canon City in 1920 & 1930. He was in the tax accessors office. William appears to be a brother to Sarah. Thank you all for any answers to this puzzle. Wendell H.
