Actually, it's not necessary to hold a PPLD card to access NewsFinder and request obituaries. (And some of the obituaries have full text available online.) This site is open to the public! To get there: Go to www.ppld.org Click on "Special Collections" Then click on "Pikes Peak NewsFinder." That's all there's to it. No library card or "membership" involved. Hello Linda, Interesting! They always ask for my library card number and a Zip Code. Are you saying that you don't have to enter a card number? If not that is a great benefit. Well, try the steps I gave you. Does it work without entering a library card number? I am a resident of Colorado Springs, and have a PPLD library card. If I want to access HeritageQuest, WorldCat, or my own account at the library's site, I have to enter my library card number (I've never seen it ask for a ZIP code). But if I go to Pikes Peak NewsFinder, I can go straight in without providing my library card number. If you experience something different, I'd be interested to hear about it and figure out why. I know the head of PPLD Special Collections, and I've never heard it mentioned that this resource is available only to library card holders. The opposite, in fact.
