I've "rescued" an old photograph of Laura BELL which was taken in 1901 at the Abernathy Studio in Champaign, IL. Laura appears to be about 3 years old in the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Laura BELL and her family: Laura E. BELL was b. 20 Dec 1898 near Ivesdale, IL to parents Samuel F. BELL (b. 1866) and Sarah ALDERSON (b. 1866). Laura was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Edith M.; Walter Charles; Earl Alderson; Laura E.; Harley; Glenn C.; and Ethel BELL, all born between 1891 and 1910. Laura graduated from Champaign HS in 1918 and attended Illinois State Normal University and Illinois Wesley University and later taught school. She completed nurses training in Colorado Springs, CO and in 1929 went to India as a missionary nurse returning to the USA in 1935. On 27 Jan 1937 she married Geoffrey BEAZLY (b. 19 Jul 1897 in IL) of Mansfield, IL. They had two sons, Samuel and Brenton BEAZLY. At the time of her death on 19 Aug 1955 in Urbana, IL she was survived by two sister, Mrs. Edith OLSON of Monticello, IL; and Mrs. Ethel Corley VANDERBURG of Phoenix, AZ; and three brothers, Walter BELL of Seymour, IL; Earl BELL of Urbana, IL; and Harley BELL or Elmhurst, IL. Laura BELL BEAZLY is buried in the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, IL. Census records provide the following information: 1900 census of Sadorus Township, Champaign Co. IL: Samuel F. BELL, age 43, married 20 years, born IN, parents born OH/VA, a Farmer Sarah BELL, wife, age 43, married 20 years, 8 children/7 living, born IL, parents born England/VA Edith BELL, dau, age 19, born IL Walter BELL, son, age 17, born IL, a Farm Laborer Earle BELL, son, age 14, born IL, a Farm Laborer Laura BELL, dau, age 11, born IL Harley BELL, son, age 9, born IL Glenn BELL, son, age 6, born IL Ethel BELL, dau, age 6 months, born IL 1920 census of Champaign, IL: Samuel F.
