The Shoemaker family has lived in Divide, CO for years and I believe that Gary Shoemaker (former county Sheriff) still lives there. Do not know if he is on line. Kathleen Kathleen If your grandfather was in any of the military services, you should be able to acquire a military headstone for him free from the US Government. Henry

I find Peter in the 1880 census but have been unable to find the mother or other two sons. Jane was born in Kentucky approximately 1826 and the boys were all born in Missouri. I have no idea if Jane was widowed or divorced since the 1870 census does not list this information. If there is any further information out there, I will be very appreciative.

Surnames: Taws/Edwards Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SY.2ADI/1684 Message Board Post: My grgrgrandfather was Pete Edwards born in Missouri about 1855. He was a teamster in the ElPaso-Teller Co area. Alex Taws signed Pete's death certificate in October 1911 as the informant rather than in an official capacity. I had thought that he was the marshall or police chief at the time. I have recently found an article that indicates that he was removed from office a week prior to my grandfather's death. Since Taws was also a sawyer and a lumberman prior to his work in law enforcement and since he was in Missouri as was my grandfather, and since they are buried next to each other in Fairview Cemetry in Old Colorado City, I am wondering if there is perhaps a family connection. I don't want to overlook the possibility that they were related rather than just friends.
