Hi Marta, Thank you for the background info. I hope that Cliff/library can get it for me. Roberta is part of a family that is turning out to be very interesting, and I am hoping I can find out who her immediate family is and get in touch with them. Hi Cliff and Gwyn, I do know that the library can only do those lookups for folks when they are not busy. Some days they are very busy and other days they are not. It just depends on the day. There is no, one person, who does these lookups, all the librarians help out on this. Here is a quick run down on how this is done. They have to go into the proper database to see if there are any requests, if so, they claim it, get the microfilm from the proper place, load it, find the article, crop the article in question, import it to the computer and then email it to you. This can only be done from one microfilm reader that is hooked up to a computer. This can only be done when they are not busy helping patrons and that microfilm reader is not in use by anyone else. I hope this helps, Marta ----- Original Message ----- From: "CRB" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 12, 2007 6:01 PM Subject: Re: [COELPASO] Roberta Wright Obituary > Hello Gwyn, > > The local library has a copy of the obituary. Hello, I am looking for an obituary for Roberta Wright, who was born on 29 July, 1890 and died in El Paso County in May 1975. She was a long time resident of Niagara Falls, New York. Her husband was Ronald W Wright, who I think died in May 1973 at Niagara Falls. Thank you, Gwyn Hughes ___________________________________________________________ Tiscali Broadband only £9.99 a month for your first 3 months! http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadband/

Bill, The obituary appeared in The Colorado Springs Gazette on 17 May 1995: FRED D. HUNTER, 90, a Colorado Springs resident, died May 15, 1995, at a local hospital. He worked for 40 years as an industrial relations consultant for ABEX Corp., formerly the American Brake Shoe and Foundry Co., before retiring. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home's Cascade Chapel, with the Rev. O. Gerald Trigg and the Rev. Gaylord Hatler officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Mr. Hunter was born June 12, 1904, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frederic T. and Nancy (Dooley) Hunter. He was married in 1976 in Colorado Springs to Ruby L. Hunter, who survives. His first wife, Alta Bierschbach, died in 1975. Mr. Hunter attended the University of Denver and graduated from the New York City College. He was a member of the Rotary Club, First Christian Church, Ramapo Masonic Lodge 589 in Suffern, N.Y., Pikes Peak High 12 Club and the Fountain Colony Investment Council. In the 1920s, he played the drums in Denver with Cliff Gillett and his 23-piece band and also with Art Benson and his "Blue Jackets," a 21-piece band. Good luck with your research. I am looking for information on Emory Smith convicted of Murder on Nov 9 1876, He was sent to the State Penitentiary from El Paso. He was 59 years old, a farmer, gave his place of birth as Carrolton Kentucky, he was married, identified his wife as Lucy Ann Smith residing in Chico Pueblo Co, he was sentenced to One year in prison and released after 11 months on Oct 9 1877. Also sent to the prison from El Paso on the same date were: 1. Alphonso W Ellis age 29 charged with Larceny an Assault to Kill sentenced to 6 years, He was the son of David H Ellis and Sarah M, his wife was Cora T Ellis, He was born in Melrose Mass. George Lewis aged 29 charged with Burglary, Larceny, and Assault to Kill he was sentenced to 6 years, he was a "Negro" Barber born in Greene County Ohio his parents lived in Logan County Ohio, he was not married. I am including the information on these other 3 convicts sent from El Paso as I think it odd that Burglary, Larceny, and Assault to Kill, all carried stiffer sentences than Emory Smith received for Murder...I would be very interested in knowing the particulars of his case. Perhaps there is a newspaper account of the Court cases of Nov 9th 1876. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Last summer, I spent several days in Colorado, doing some FH research and revisiting my former neighborhoods. Several of you were helpful to me then, and on-line as well. My search would have been less successful without this help. I can't let 2006 pass by without sending you my very sincere appreciation and good wishes for 2007. Bless you and thanks again.
