Hello, I live on the east coast and am interested in a death notice that ran in the Gazette this week (there was no obituary.) Is there someone who gets the paper who would be willing to scan and send it to me? The one I'm wanting is for Christine Stalters. She died May 19, so it probably ran either yesterday or today. Thank you, Sue [email protected]

My interest in El Paso County is for surnames Chichester and McCracken, 1932-present. Also for Etta McCracken, abt. 1910 and/or Etta Bennett, 1957-1965. All else is not relevant for me. Can you help? Thank you for your reply, Gail. This is legitit. I am not going to "spam" the list. I am not trying to sell anything. I just received this posting from another list that gave some ideas that I was not aware of. I thought it might help other researchers. I will send you the list and you can see if it is worthwhile or not. (Martha) Jane (Keeling) Foley NC raised and lived in Colo. Any information is great to get activity going on a mail list just as long as you are not going to spam the list but if it has to do with genealogy and a way to help other researchers, I see no reason not to post your information. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Harry HIMES which was taken at the Rimer Studio in Schuyler, Nebraska. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Harry likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the family in census records as follows: 1870 census of Pioneer, ID: Joshua V. The Pikes Peak Library District, www.ppld.org, which was already suggested to you, sent me a .pdf copy of my mother-in-law's obit, which was very helpful, since I didn't remember the date, even though I was there, in 1972. Good luck with your earlier dates. I believe I've found the correct ancestor on the 1900 & 1910 census living in Colorado Springs. Is there a death index for the early 1900's somewhere? I'd like to find an obit-death record & cemetery and don't know where to begin the search. His brother William D. died there Oct. 11, 1915, I don't have an obit for him either. Any help sure would be appreciated! Thank you in advance! cousin Mary [email protected]
You can request an obituary index search from www.ppld.org, Special Collections. There's a card index there, and if they find an obit, they will scan it and e-mail it to you. There are two Charles Howards buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, but both have a different middle initial. There is a C. H. Howard buried in Fairview Cemetery, Colorado Springs: 005 025 SW HOWARD, C. H. Born: Died: Buried: 4 JUN 1910 Comments: No marker, information from sexton records There's a Cordelia Howard in the same block: C 005 025 WC HOWARD, Cordelia Born: Died: Buried: 1 JUL 1935 Comments: No marker, information from sexton records The 1910 census shows that Charles H. Howard is married to Cordelia, so perhaps this is your guy. Charles *may* be in the Colorado Springs Death Register, although he probably died in Colorado City, then not part of Colorado Springs. His obit may be in the Colorado City Iris, too, BTW, not the Colorado Springs Gazette, although indexes to both should be checked. If the library doesn't have time to check this for you, let me know, and I'll do it the next time I'm at the library. Hi Linda I know he is buried in Bainbridge, Indiana. So if he died in Colorado, then he was shipped back to Indiana. Hope there is someone out there than will have time to check this out further for me. Its one step closer to finding what happened to him. Have been looking for a long time now. Thanks to you or anyone who can help me.
