    1. [COELPASO] FULLER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Daniel Cullen FULLER and Milo Burke FULLER which was taken at a studio in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the two boys identified as 8 years + 4 1/2 months and 5 years + 1 month respectively. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the boys and their family: Daniel Cullen FULLER was b. 15 Dec 1901 in Arlington, KS and his brother Milo Burke FULLER was b. 2 Apr 1905 in Ringwood, OK. The boys were born to Pearl Annice WALBORN (b. 11 Jul 1881 in Arlington, KS) and Frank Epperson FULLER. The couple married 7 Dec 1898. Frank died 23 Dec 1914 in Blocton, IA and Pearl remarried twice, her second marriage being to Marlin JENSON on 3 May 1922, and her third marriage to Mr. OLDRICH on 24 May 1938. Milo married twice, first to Marie CUMMINGS on 22 Nov 1936 and with whom he had two children, one being Jay FULLER b. 26 Dec 1939 in San Diego, CA. His second marriage was to Lou WELLS on 10 Apr 1966. Daniel died in Nov 1976. Census records show the following: 1910 census of Colorado Springs, CO: Frank E. FULLER, age 30, married 11 years, born IA, parents born PA Pearl FULLER, wife, age 28, married 11 years, 2 children/2 living, born KS, parents born IN Cullen FULLER, son, age 8, born KS Milo FULLER, son, age 5, born OK I am hoping to locate someone from this FULLER Family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place, with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [COELPASO] EASTBURG - FULLER Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to families from Idaho. The first is a photograph of Hilma EASTBURG and Edwin JOHNSON of Idaho Falls, ID. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's at the celebration of their wedding. The couple appears to be in their 20's or 30's at the time. The second photograph is taken in front of the Fuller & Soderquist Hospital and includes Hilma EASTBURG, Dr. FULLER, Emma DOBBINS, Dr. SODERQUIST, and Lottie JONES. The second photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's as well with all subjects appearing to be in their 20's or 30's at the time. There is no location or photographer's stamp on the photograph, though I'm assuming it was also taken in Idaho. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding those in the photographs: Silvies Spurgeon FULLER was b. 27 Feb 1875 in PA to parents Daniel W. FULLER (b. 1842-1845 in PA) and Amy Ellen LYNCH (b. May 1848-1850 in PA). In 1880 he was living in Benton, IA and in 1885 he was living in Clinton, IA. Silvies was drafted in World War I from Colorado Springs, CO listing his occupation at the time as Physician. He died 12 Apr 1949 in San Diego, CA. Census records provide the following: 1910 census of Idaho Falls, ID: Silvies S. FULLER, age 30, married 8 years, born IA, parents birth unknown, a Physician Nellie L. FULLER, wife, age 30, married 8 years, no children, born NE, parents born IN/IA D. Arthur SODERQUIST, age 26, married 1 year, born MN, parents born Sweden, a Doctor Amelia SODERQUIST, wife, age 26, married 1 year, 1 child/1 living, born MN, parents born Sweden Baby SODERQUIST, dau, newly born, born ID + 1 Servant 1920 census of Idaho Falls, ID: Arthur R. SODERQUIST, age 36, born MN, parents born Sweden, a Hospital Doctor Amelia SODERQUIST, wife, age 33, born MN, parents born Sweden Marvin SODERQUIST, son, age 9, born ID Anna ANDERSON, mother-in-law, age 75, a widow, born Sweden, parents born Sweden ? ?, niece, age 18, born MN, parents born Sweden, a Stenographer I am hoping to locate someone from these families so that the photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of one of these families, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [COELPASO] Looking for some feedback
    2. Dan Smith
    3. I'm looking for some feedback on an ancestry website I created for beginners. It's a collection of free ancestry resources and how to use them. My wife convinced me to put this website together. I kept getting questions from people who knew I was doing ancestry research. They wanted to know where to go to get information about their ancestry. So I put this website together: http://sites.google.com/site/FunSimpleFreeAncestry It contains a lot of links to websites that are already in many of the GenWeb County websites. I just put them all together with examples of how to use them. I've been tracking the hits on each page and have removed a couple and added some. I think I have the right balance now. At least people seem to be looking at all of the pages on the website . Thanks, Dan Smith

    1. [COELPASO] Sobernheimer/Manitou
    2. Jean Griesan
    3. Hi! I have been puzzling over this problem for quite a while. Maybe someone on the list can turn something up for me that I hadn't thought of. I am searching for information on Edith Maria (Latham) Holbrook Sobernheimer. Edith was born in Connecticut in 1880. She lost her father when she was eight (or younger), and her mother died when she was fourteen. She was adopted and cared for by her uncle, Henry Holbrook, after her mother's death (thus the Holbrook in her name). She lived in Pueblo for a time, and then was back East for a good education, etc. She married to Dr. Harry B. Sobernheimer in 1910, and they moved out to Colorado Springs shortly after their marriage. I can find listings of them in a number of the Colorado Springs city directories at various addresses. At some point, around 1916, I believe that they separated, and Edith appears in the 1917 Colorado Springs city directory alone. Harry was in Meeker, Colorado, and he was a part of the WWI effort in some capacity. I believe that Edith lived in the Springs until near the end of 1919, when she moved to Manitou Springs. She is listed as living on "Manitou Road" in the 1920 census, taken January 3 - 5, 1920. The 1921 Colorado Springs/Manitou city directory lists Edith as living on Rosemary Lane at the corner of Manitou Avenue. She is unfortunately not listed in the 1922 city directory. Edith died about April 24, 1922. The Colorado Springs Gazette has the following mention of her death: Colorado Springs Gazette, April 25, 1922 The body of Mrs. Edith H. Soberheimer, 54, who died at a local hospital Sunday night, was taken to Pueblo last night for burial. I could find no other obituary for her in the Springs' newspapers, which seems odd given her charitable nature. Additionally, I found the following article: Fort Collins Courier - August 26, 1922 - Mrs. Santa Claus' Will Creates Home (For) Little Tubercular Children - Colorado Springs, Aug. 25. - Thru the will of the late Mrs. Edith Sobernheimer, tuberculosis children in the Pikes Peak region are to have a sanatorium of their own. The will, just admitted for probate, provides that Mrs. Sobernheimer's beautiful stone mansion near Manitou, valued at $70,000 be turned over to a board of trustees and operated as a home for children suffering from the white plague. The trustees named include Miles Saunders of Pueblo; Dr. Beverly Tucker of Colorado Springs; S. J. Giles, Colorado Springs; J. Frank Campbell, Manitou; C. O. Chipman, Pueblo and G. E. Lewis, La Junta. Mrs. Sobernheimer became known in the Pikes Peak region as "Mrs. Santa Claus" for many kind acts at Christmas when no poor child was allowed to go without a Christmas gift. For years she was a partial invalid. Here's what I would like to know. Can anyone tell me where this address is/was: Corner of Rosemary Lane and Manitou Avenue? Also, does anyone know anything about this apparently lovely stone mansion in Manitou that was donated for children with TB? I wonder if it's still there and what its location is. I wonder if it was ever used for children with TB. I'm hoping for someone on the list to be very familiar with Manitou and can answer these questions. Thanks ever so much! - Jean Griesan

    1. [COELPASO] Early Colorado Springs City Directories Now Online
    2. Linda Vixie
    3. Pikes Peak Genealogical Society volunteers, in conjunction with Special Collections in the Pikes Peak Library District, Colorado Springs, have scanned and placed online the extant Colorado Springs city directories for 1879 to 1922. You can view them at www.ppgs.org and click on the image of the directory, on the right. The set of links to the PDF volumes is at the bottom of the page. The text of the PDF images is fully searchable. Just type your target word into the search box at the top right part of the PDF toolbar. Images can also be printed and saved. In addition to Colorado Springs, residents of Colorado City (now part of western Colorado Springs), and Manitou are included. 1901, 1913, and 1918 are not yet completed, but they should be up within a couple weeks. Volumes after 1922 will be available on computers at Special Collections, but for copyright reasons are not being placed online. 3. Hi Shelley, I was just typing up a reply, when I saw that Linda said just what I was going to say. I would think that the OCCHS (historical society) would be thrilled with a copy of the album too, even if the original was going a family member. It provides a very valuable snapshot of some of the folks who were living in "Colorado City," now called "Old Colorado City," in that era. - Jean Griesan -------------------------------------------------- From: "Shelley Cardiel" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 8:42 AM To: <[email protected]> Subject: [COELPASO] SWIFT - MCGRAFF Family Autograph Album > I've "rescued" an old photograph album which appears to have belonged to > Miss Iva SWIFT of Colorado City, Colorado. 3. Shelley-- If you can't find a family member, consider giving it to the Old Colorado City Historical Society. I am not associated with it, but it's an active organization with a fine museum. With all these names from Colorado City, the book would find a welcome home at this museum. What a treasure you've found and how kind and generous of you to save it and want to find it a good home. 3. Hello Jean Thank you for your great help. There is always new information. You have found Ralph Coupon, he was Carl Ludwick Coupon,s nephew, son of his brother August Johan Coupon. I only had information that show me that this boy lived in 1900 (Census) but not what year he died. Great work. Ralph Coupon was born 1894. You found a newspaper when Carl Ludwick Coupon got his first second and last child named Ruth Elisabeth. She was born april 19, 1908. It is tru her daughter Sharon Burch in California I have got most of the information about Carl Ludwick Coupon. But because mother and two children left Colorado and husband they knew so little about Carl Ludwicks life. This faily had the name Koppang, named from a place in Norway. In USA they change it to Coupon. Thanks again. He was born July 26, 1873 in Fayette County - Iowa by parents Johan Koppang and Kjersti Koppang. Here is the information I have: He was the first of the children from Johan and Kjersti that was born in Iowa; he also was in Colorado. Like the rest of the family he now has the surname Coupon. In the year 1900 he is, just like his brother a "gold miner" and he lives in a goldmining town with the name Goldfield. In 1910 Karl Ludvig lived in Colorado Springs, in El Paso County, Colorado. He is married and has two children, Virginia born 1905 and Ruth Elizabeth born 1908. In 1918 he works for Portland G.M Co. in Victor. This was the largest mine in Cripple Creek and was called "Queen of Cripple Creek". His family left him His wife Anna Bella took the two young girls, Ruth and Virginia, and left for California where she had family. This was between 1910 and 1918. In 1920 Carl Ludvig Coupon lived in a "Boardinghouse" in Eureka township in San Juan County. Here he worked at "Sunnyside Mine". We have information that Karl Ludvig Coupon died 51 years old, on June 3, 1924 in El Paso, Colorado. Best regards Harald in Norway

    3. Hi Harald, I checked through every available online cemetery in El Paso County, especially the largest and most likely ones. I checked under Coupon and Koppang, and was unable to find any listing for him. Additionally, I did search for newspaper articles from Colorado Springs that are indexed online, and there was clearly one article listed for him, under Carl Coupon, Birth of a Daughter, from April 1908. There was also an obituary for Ralph Coupon in 1901. I have ordered a copy of both of these articles, and they should arrive in about a week. I wasn't sure if Ralph Coupon was related, but these were the only articles for Coupon. There wasn't an indexed listing for an obituary for Carl Coupon, which was a disappointment. There may have been an obituary for him in the newspaper though. I would have to try another source to see if there may have been an obituary published in the Colorado Springs newspapers. I checked in the only two online listings for Colorado Springs city directories, and I was unable to find a listing for the Coupon family in the 1911 and the 1912 city directories. I checked several other online listings for newspaper articles for him. Unfortunately, the word "coupon" was a commonly used term even back in the early 1900s, so there were so many listings that I was unable to find something specific for him. I will continue to search through other resources if I can think of any. I hope that this helps! - Jean Griesan -------------------------------------------------- From: "Harald Lorentzen" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 16, 2010 9:12 AM To: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [COELPASO] Norwegian need help > Hello Roberta > Thank you for your information.
