    1. [COE-L] Stephen Coe
    2. Linda, As one Stephen Coe researcher my answer to your questions are No, No, and I wish I knew! :-) No, the paupers records do not mention a wife. No., Stephen never shows up on a census (or tax list or anything else) and where to go next is anyone's guess. I have checked all early Tennessee marriages and find no record of marriage for Stephen Coe and Mary Hart. I'm sure Carl has done the same and if he can't find it nobody can! It appears the only thing we can hope for is the discovery of a Bible record. Since Wesley Allen Coe indicated in the 1880 census that his parents were born in SC I suppose that is where we should go next. I spent one day at the library in the SC section then went on vacation but I'm home now and headed that way again sometime this week. Probably need to check Georgia too -- like the Caseys they may have come through there before going to Tennessee. If you would like copies of the census info I have on Stephen's sons let me know. I will need time to get it typed. Vonda Dihm
