Much work is yet to be done to sort out various branches of the Southern Coe family. Twenty years in research, it is hoped the book will become the definitive authority on Southern Coe families. It traces the early history of the family from Thomas Coe, who was at Jamestown, to Richard Coe, 1651 immigrant to Charles County, MD, to Timothy Coe, immigrant of 1652 to Northampton County, VA, and many others. Your particular branch of the family can be traced to Francis Peter Coe, who first appears on record in 1772 in Shelburne Parish, Loudoun County, VA. From there the family moved in the 1790s to Pittsylvania County, VA, where Francis and his wife Nancy last appear on record June 1, 1818. They were the parents of sons Pearson, b. 1766; Jacob, b.c. 1770; William, b. 1779; and daughters Sarah, m. Nov. 24, 1802; Mary, m. Nov. 10, 1805; and Anna, m. Sept. 23, 1807. Your great grandfather William Jeff Coe was born December 21, 1891, in Clay County, NC, son of William Daniel and Sarah (Watson) Coe. A railroad worker, he moved to Titus County, TX, where he married May 9, 1915, Annie B. Fulce, born February 15, 1898, in Memphis, TN, died December 31, 1991, at Cookville, TX, daughter of Melvin and Mary F. (Barber) Fulce. William Jeff Coe died in Titus County, September 8, 1975. Burial was at the Taylor-Cookville Cemetery. Children (b. in Titus County, TX): 1. James William, b. Oct. 24, 1917. 2. Katherine Virginia, b. March 24, 1919. (your grandmother) 3. Gordon Harrison, b.
