    1. [COE-L] Coe Execution
    2. Carl R Coe
    3. The Nashville Tennessean, Sunday, 4/16/00 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- COE LAWYERS HOLD OUT HOPE Robert Glen Coe is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Riverbend prison for murdering 8-year-old Cary Ann Medlin in 1979. That would make him the first prisoner executed in Tennessee since 1960. Coe's lawyers are still hoping the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals or the U.S. Supreme Court will stay Coe's execution and order further hearings on whether he is mentally competent to be executed. Coe, who marked his 44th birthday yesterday, has received three stays of execution from federal courts in the past month, but legal experts say the chance of further delays is slim. __________________________________________ Robert Glen Coe was born April 15, 1956, in Henry County, TN, fifth child of Willie Monroe and Annie Belle (Knight) Coe.
