Born June 8, 1869, in Worcestershire, England, and died May 14, 1955, in Palm Beach, FL, he was founder of Atlantic Richfield and other enterprises and was reputed to be "the richest man in America." In 1910 he purchased the William "Buffalo Bill" Cody ranch at Cody, WY, and became a major benefactor to the city.
