Gladys, Samuel Houston Coe, born January 1843 in Surry County, NC, was the fourth of ten children of Jesse and Sarah (Wood) Coe of Surry County. He married February 18, 1867, in Surry County, Minerva Jane Harris, born August 1846, died July 3, 1928, in Roane County, WV, daughter of Chester Harris. In 1872 they moved to Clover Ridge, Roane County, WV, where they purchased 26 acres on Spring Creek in 1881. Samuel died there about 1919. They were the parents of children: 1.
