The web address is there so you would just need to use that web address then search for COE once there. 2. Thanks to Carl Coe for his great information. Who would have thought that the Coe would have been a more recent immigrant, given that Coes settled in LI so early in our country's history. PHoebe

I am writing to you because there was a JACOB GONZALES who witnessed the will of my ancestor, MOSES CARPENTER, in 1828 in Onondaga Co., NY. MOSES CARPENTER was born in about 1750 and is believed (not proven) to be the son of JOHN CARPENTER and RUTH COE, both presumed to be of Jamaica, Long Island, NY. MOSES CARPENTER moved from Orange Co., NY to Onondaga Co, NY in about 1794. I have thought that JACOB GONZALES was probably from the Ulster Co., NY line, and wondered if there could be any connections. 3. Dear COE List members, Thought anyone related to George W. Coe and B. Frank Coe of New Mexico fame would enjoy this site which features a a picture of beautiful painting by Peter Hurd of the Coe Ranch. The painting was also used in the book Ranch on the Ruidoso by Wilbur Coe. My grandmother, Elsie Hall, spent some of her childhood here, visiting with her Aunt and Uncle, Phoebe and George Coe. Enjoy! Gail Yeaple http://www.ruidoso.net/hurd/

    3. 6:00 PM Nashville. Reports are that U S Supreme Ct rejects Coe requests. execution is in less than 7 hrs. Coe has now had last meal. Lawyers are now arguing before local judge that execution violates local law and regulatory guidelines. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carl R Coe <CarlRCoe@compuserve.com> To: <COE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2000 4:35 PM Subject: [COE-L] Coe Execution > The Nashville Tennessean, Sunday, 4/16/00 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- - > ----- > > COE LAWYERS HOLD OUT HOPE > > Robert Glen Coe is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 1 a.m. > Wednesday at Riverbend prison for murdering 8-year-old Cary Ann Medlin in > 1979. > > That would make him the first prisoner executed in Tennessee since 1960. > > Coe's lawyers are still hoping the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals or the > U.S. Supreme Court will stay Coe's execution and order further hearings on > whether he is mentally competent to be executed. > > Coe, who marked his 44th birthday yesterday, has received three stays of > execution from federal courts in the past month, but legal experts say the > chance of further delays is slim. > __________________________________________ > > Robert Glen Coe was born April 15, 1956, in Henry County, TN, fifth child > of Willie Monroe and Annie Belle (Knight) Coe. 3. Coe Home at Oyster Bay, New York The home at Oyster Bay, NY, was that of William Robertson Coe. Born June 8, 1869, in Worcestershire, England, and died May 14, 1955, in Palm Beach, FL, he was founder of Atlantic Richfield and other enterprises and was reputed to be "the richest man in America." In 1910 he purchased the William "Buffalo Bill" Cody ranch at Cody, WY, and became a major benefactor to the city. The Coe collection at Yale University is a collection of some of the Western memorabilia collected by him. William Robertson Coe was the fifth child of Frederick Augustus Coe, who was born April 14, 1838, at High Wycombe, England. Frederick Augustus Coe was a son of Robert and Alice (Cass) Coe of London, England. Frederick immigrated to the United States and died in Philadelphia, December 5, 1929. He married July 31, 1861, in London, Margaret Robertson, who was born December 16, 1839, in Edinburgh, and died December 31, 1924, in Philadelphia. The family descends from Robert Coe, born 1752, died November 23, 1834, at Bisham, England. Robert married October 17, 1789, in London, England, Martha Saunders, born 1767, died February 10, 1807. Robert Coe, who was born in 1792 and who married Alice Cass, was their second child. For further information you might write to The Coe Foundation, 210 East 47th Street, New York, NY. The Foundation was established by William Robertson Coe. I hope this is helpful. Carl Robert Coe Marysville, OH 43040-9012

    3. The Nashville Tennessean, Sunday, 4/16/00 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- COE LAWYERS HOLD OUT HOPE Robert Glen Coe is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Riverbend prison for murdering 8-year-old Cary Ann Medlin in 1979. That would make him the first prisoner executed in Tennessee since 1960. Coe's lawyers are still hoping the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals or the U.S. Supreme Court will stay Coe's execution and order further hearings on whether he is mentally competent to be executed. Coe, who marked his 44th birthday yesterday, has received three stays of execution from federal courts in the past month, but legal experts say the chance of further delays is slim. __________________________________________ Robert Glen Coe was born April 15, 1956, in Henry County, TN, fifth child of Willie Monroe and Annie Belle (Knight) Coe. His great grandfather William Glen Coe, who was born in 1873 in Wayne County, KY, moved to Henry County about 1897 and was killed there about 1900 while breaking horses. He married September 7, 1892, at the Toler home in Wayne County, Mary Elizabeth Toler, born September 24, 1876, died November 20, 1962, at Paris, TN, daughter of King and S. Toler. Burial was at Bevil Cemetery, Paris. The family descends from Samuel and Elvira (Davis) Coe, who were married May 11, 1826, in Wayne County, KY. Samuel Coe, who was born in 1793 in North Carolina or Georgia, first appears on record in Wayne County, October 11, 1818, when he was named as an heir of Rachel Kiggins. Elisha Franklin, Elizabeth Coe and Nancy Kiggins were also named as heirs. Nancy Kiggins, who was born Janaury 10, 1802, in North Carolina, married December 31, 1818, in Wayne County, KY, Joseph Henry Hamilton, who was born in Garrard County, KY, son of Charles and Hannah (Henry) Hamilton. They named a son Samuel Coe Hamilton. Samuel Coe appears in Wayne County tax records November 21, 1832, when it was noted that he had "Removed to Pulaski County, Ky." By 1840 he had returned to Wayne County and appears there on the census that year. He died after 1860. He and Elvira Davis were the parents of eleven children. William Glen Coe was the oldest son of their youngest son Joshua Coe, who was born in 1847 in Wayne County. Carl Robert Coe Marysville, OH 43040-9012
