    1. [CODY] Why dosen't my Coady have a marriage record?
    2. David Stroebel
    3. I've looked high and low on https://registers.nli.ie/ in County Kilkenny, Ireland for a marriage record for my G-Grandparents, Thomas Coady and Judith Phelan, but the only one I found was for 1844. This can't be them because their children were born in 1860-1870 and a 1911 census shows them in Castlecomer saying they were married for 42 years (in 1869). The census also said Thomas could not read/write. Thank you all, Dave

    3. Seeking info on Thomas Cody who came to America in 1876 from Ireland at age 16. They departed from Queensland. He was born in 1860 and came from Ireland with sister Bridget Cody. Bridget lived in Newark, Jersey City and Hoboken. I have found no trace of her brother a Thomas. Their parents names were Thomas Cody and Julia Phelan. They did not come to America. FamilySearch and Ancestry have nothing on him. Thank you all. I want to know where in Ireland my Irish roots are in. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

    1. [CODY] CODY Family photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of three children identified as children of Hary & Hazle CODY. The children are identified as Fredrich age 3 years; Hary age 1 year and 11 months; and Jack Leroy not quite 3 months old. There is no studio or location indicated on the photograph and I'm guessing that it was taken sometime in the early 1900's prior to 1920. I'm hoping to locate someone from the family so that this precious old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this CODY Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. Hi Pat, It's been awhile since we corresponded, and I've been meaning to respond to this message for some time. As mentioned in an earlier email, I have a John Cody and wife (whose name I believe is Mary) and one child arriving in Prince Edward Island, Canada, around 1833, but they do not show up in the 1841 PEI census. They arrived on the same ship with another John Cody, a William Cody and my great-great-grandfather Laurence Cody (b. 1815). John, William and Laurence settled in the same area in PEI. In your message you mention that your John Cody's parents were Laurence and Julia. My g-g-grandfather Laurence Cody's (m. Anne Clanse) children, in birth order, are; Mary, James, John, Elizabeth, Julia and Daniel (twins), Edward, Hannah, Ellen, and Henry and William (twins). I like to think it is more than a coincidence that my Laurence's children include the names Mary, John and especially Julia, and that he was born in 1815 in County Kilkenny. I believe your John is the same John that arrived in PEI with a wife and child, and that they left PEI sometime before 1841 - possibly for New Jersey. I will keep looking, All the best, Jim Coady On Monday, January 26, 2015 4:01 AM, "cody-request@rootsweb.com" <cody-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: Today's Topics:   1. 1. [CODY] Fw: William S Cody's first wife, America Davis....her parents!

    3. Sent from Windows Mail From: Deb Wood Sent: ‎Monday‎, ‎November‎ ‎3‎, ‎2014 ‎9‎:‎52‎ ‎PM To: CODY-L-@rootsweb.com Mystery solved. I came to the Cody family by way of my Shelton line back in 1700's Virginia, I already had Elizabeth Shelton's lineage who married Charles Harrison Cody MD..... and all of Godfrey Shelton's children and spouses along with some grandchildren. Then today I decided to add to the Cody descendants and see what I could learn about them. I began adding from the census and marriage records and it came about that I already had America Davis in my tree!!! You'll never guess! She was William S Cody's cousin! America was the daughter of Elizabeth's sister Frances Shelton and Edward Gregory. America Gregory b 1824 had married Richard Davis in 1841. Rutherford Co TN. They had one child. I noticed her mother Frances died in 1842. And of course we have the marriage of America to Wm Cody in 1847. It didn't work out I see as they both remarried. America remarried to a Wm Sherrell in 1852 and Wm Cody married Sarah Swann in 1853. Both America and Wm Sherrell are still living in 1900 Bowie Co TX, but I have not found a gravesite for them. Of course we know that Wm Cody married 4 times. Anyway....putting 2 and 2 together and wanted to tell you about my discovery. Deborah Shelton Wood from Virginia Sent from Windows Mail

But since you have the last name Cody, I can tell you now that you are not a direct descendant of Buffalo Bill. He had no sons that survived childhood to have carried on the name. Only his daughters did and, of course, their surnames changed with marriage. It is possible you are related as a cousin but I would need much more information such as your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents names and dates or birth, death and/or marriage. As much as possible. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
