Mrs. Garber, 2518 Robin Drive, died Thursday at a local hospital. She lived in Colorado Springs since 1920. She was born Feb. 18, 1902, in Castle Rock. Mrs. Garber a housewife, was married 1932 in Raton, N.M. She was affiliated with the Bellevue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Justus Garber; one son, Joseph Garber of Los Angeles; one daughter, Alice Thomas of Colorado Springs; four sisters, Elsie Price of El Cerrito, Calif., Alberta Cimino of Colorado Springs, Clara Wooten of Housten, Texas, and Mary Cramer of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Swan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

    3. I am seeking information on an Andrew J. Rusow, 26, who appears on the 1880 census with a wife Rachel,22, and a son William 3. Per the 1880 census, they live in Precinct 4 ... does anyone know what town that might be? Andrew Rusow's occupation was listed as "chopping rr ties". Would anyone know what railroad that might be?     2. HErvey M. Bosley was born abt 1842 in Fayette Co. Penn. the son of Greenberry Bosley and Huldah Springer Morris. He apparently married Mary E. Griffin about 1867 in Putnam Co., Illinois. HErvey M. Bosley may well be the HArvey M. Bosley who served in the Civil War in Illinois Co. H & K. I was told he was in Douglas Co, Colorado in 1872. He may have died before the 1880 census as I cannot find him. Looking for death date and location and names of children, if any. Thank you, Kathleen Rizer

    3. Hello All!!! I am new to the Wolter & Douglas County, Colorado List and I am hoping to confirm some information I have recently found. My grandfather's name was Cecil T. Arthur. He moved from WV in the early 30's to Washington State. I came across his name in some records of Colorado Marriages which is along the way to Washington. I was wondering if anyone could help me find some more information than what I have found so I can verify if it was actually my grandfather or another Cecil T. Arthur.     2. The Douglas County News-Press 11 March 1997 Lawrence H. Gerondale, 80, of Castle Rock, Colo., died Monday March 3, 1997 at the Castle Rock Care Center. Memorial services were held March 8 at the United Methodist Church of Castle Rock. Dr. Robert J. Toll officiated. Cremation was held. Larry was born April 1, 1915 in Gardner, Wis. He was the son of Ernest and Agnes (Gigot) Gerondale. Larry married Larryon Lucas Nov. 24, 1961 in Myrtle Pointe, Ore. After retiring from IREA as an engineer, Larry started his own business as Larry's Drip Irrigation. An active member in the Castle Rock community, he was very involved with starting the Castle Rock Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Castle Rock. Castle Rock has been his home since 1970. Mr. Gerondale is survived by his wife, Larryon, of Castle Rock; one daughter, Dianne (Leeanne) Nargon of Ohio, one son, Garry Gerondale of Castle Rock; two brothers, Norman Gerondale and Ruben Gerondale; two sisters, Marie Jakouvsky and Stella Herbst; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association, 825 Speer Blvd., Suite 1, Denver, CO 80218-3719. Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home in Castle Rock is in charge of arrangements.

    2. The Castle Rock Chronicle 25 March 1997 Alfred C. Allis, 86, a native of Douglas County, died on his birthday, Tuesday, March 18, 1997 in Medford, Ore., which had been his home for the past one-and-a-half years. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Castle Rock. The Reverend Rodney E. Hull wil officiate. Inturnment will be in the Monument Cemetery in Monument, Colo. Alfred was born March 18, 1911 in Greeland, Colo., the son of Charles and Wilhelmina (Steimle) Allis. A graduate of Douglas County High School (Castle Rock). Alfred married Julia Isabella in New Mexico in 1936. Julia preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1982. On April 24, 1987, he married Margaret Boss Goudie in Monument, Colo. Alfred was a self-employed farmer and rancher for many years. He then worked as the Post Master with the U.S. Postal service in Larkspur until his retirement. He served as the president of the Greenland School Board for 15 years and was a member of the Larkspur Volunteer Fire Department and of the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock. Alfred enjoyed bowling, traveling and vegetable and flower gardening. Besides his first wife, Alfred is also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, one daughter and two grandchildren. Mr. Allis is survived by his second wife Margaret, of Medford, Ore.; his son James Allis of Monument; his daughter Mary Lynn Dameron of Round Rock, Texas; five step children; 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchidren. Memorials may be made in Alfred's name to the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock, 1200 South St., Castle Rock, CO 80104 or to the Denver Rescue Mission or other charity of choice.     2. The Castle Rock Chronicle 11 Feb. 1997 Jesse Bridwell, Jr. Jesse Leroy Bridwell Jr., 70 of Englewood, Colo., died Tuesday Feb. 4, 1997 at his home in Englewood. Graveside services were held Feb. 6 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock. Pastor John Shaw officiated. Born April 17, 1926 in Decatur, Ill., Jesse is the son of Jesse Leroy and Lucy (Crawford) Bridwell. Jesse was raised in Decatur and graduated from Duke University. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He married Julia Ogden on Oct. 1, 1952 in Crown Point, IN. Jesse worked in research and development as a civil engineer. The Bridwells moved to Englewood 2 years ago from Castle Rock which had been their home for 10 years. Mr. Bridwell is survived by his wife; Julia, of Englewood; daughter, Susan Peterson of Lakewood, CO; sister, Mary Dial and brother George Bridwell, both of Poynette, WI and four grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his name to the Harvey Park Christian Church, 3401 S. Lowell Bldv., Denver, CO 80236. Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The Douglas County News-Press 18 June 1997 Photo by Bret Knewtson Writen by Bret Knewston - Staff Writer Happy 100th, Florence Schulke Happy birthday to Florence Schulke who turned 100, Tuesday. She celebrated her birthday at the Castle Rock Care Center with her son Tom Johnson, 64, and his wife Cynthia. Schulke married twice, the last time to her late twin sister's husband. He died in 1968. Her twin died in 1954. She lived on her own in Colorado until she turned 94 and moved into the Castle Rock Care Center. She had 10 siblings most whom lived into their 80s. Her sister Sara lived to 98, and sister Leonore lived to 96. Schulke's mother lived to 87. Last Sunday 40 of her descendents gathered for a family reunion.

Private family services will be Thursday, graveside at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. Lilith Fern Childers was born Aug. 17, 1909, at Hewins, Kan., the daughter of Carl J. and Erma (nee Cardin) Vandruff. She was married to Ernest Childers in 1935 at Colorado Springs. He preceded in death December of 1949. Mrs. Childers owned and operated Fern's Shoppe in Castle Rock for many years. She was a member of Castle Rock Baptist Church, the Pikes Peak Grange, Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce, and the Franktown Ladies Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and in the past was very active in her community. She is survived by her only sister, Fae L. Martin of Colorado Springs; a nephew, Ronald Martin of Colorado Springs; a niece, Barbara Blanton of Pueblo; and her dearest friend, Doris Johnston of Castle Rock.

Mrs. Childers' father, Carl Vandruff, came over from Center, Colo., to spend several days with her. Mr. Childers' sisters, Mrs. Carl Eichman and Mrs. Ray Adams, arrived here early Saturday morning from Los Angeles, Calif. A very large crowd attended the funeral at Castle Rock Tuesday afternoon. We extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Among those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. S. B. Goodding and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Edward and Mary were married July 4, 1895. According to the copy of their marriage record, they were both residents of Parker. They moved to Pawnee Nebraska a short time after they were married and their children, Mildred, Alson, Agnes, Everett, Floyd, Melvina and Willard were born. I have some information on Mary's family but have nothing on Edward. I'm hopeing someone will have some information they can share with me concerning the McCaslin family. I also have a copy of a deed that was found along with Edward and Mary's marriage record, that was made out to and signed by a JOHN W. McCASLIN who, at that time lived in Reno county Kansas.
