I applaud the work you have done researching our family, and it gives me great pleasure to read your accounts. I would like to clarify some information about my Grandfather, Edward Mestaz. There are pictures where he and I are in the same photo, and since I was born in 1951 and actually have some recollection of him and the wonderful house behind Edison Junior High School, it is inaccurate to declare his passing in 1947. My father, the youngest son (Thomas Cordero Mestaz) is still alive, and hitting his mid-80s. My siblings and I heard many tales, some of which you have validated here, but if you get a chance, you might want to chat with him. Again, thanks for all the effort.
