My wife Rose DeHerrera has been doing genealogy for many years as well. We live in Sacramento Ca. I was born in Center and Rose was born in Manassa. We are both DeHerrera's. We were in San Luis a few years ago and wanted to meet you but you were out of town. We will be attending the Colorado genealogy conference in Espanola in June. Hope we can see you there or in San Luis at that time. I am starting to do research on my maternal grandparents. They moved from Costilla (Arroyo Hondo?) to LaGarita/Carnero in the late 1800's. Great Great Grandparents: Miguel Antonio Marquez y Samuela buenaventura Archeleta. His father was Juan de Jesus Marquez. Would you have anything on them. The Del Norte Church records (1855-1955) show that family living in Mogote near LaGarita. (not near Antonito) I have not been able to find any record of that town. Do you know anything about it? She married Felipe Vigil 19 Feb 1912 in San Luis and had one daughter Eusebia Vigil b: 30 Nov 1912. Ana Maria died soon afterwards because its noted that Eusebia was raised by her grandmother Cenobia. Felipe Vigil was Married 3 times 1} Felipita Venicia Sanchez 23 Nov 1900 2} Ana Maria Vigil 19 Feb 1912 it is stated that Felipe is the widower of Felipita Sanchez 3} Rufina Olivas 10 Aug 1914 she passed away 3 June 1968 in Alamosa, Co and is buried in San Luis. Maria shows 12 children of Felipe E Mail me and I can send you more info that I have. As for my self I am the grandson of Agatha Salazar and Richard Stone of San Luis and am a decendent through my grandmother Agatha who was decendeded from the early settlers of San Luis

Hello, I'm looking for anyone that could provide me information on Charles B. Newton b. abt. 1822-1824 Pennsylvania, died 1905 at the home of his son, Carlos Newton, in Alamosa. I am trying to find some information on who his parents were. Charles served in the Mexican American War and mustered out in Albuquerque in 1849. He married Maria delos Reyes Cortez in 1852 in Taos and later settled in Costilla County, Co. His marriage record provided no information on his parents nor did his military records. I was wondering if there was someone that may be in the Costilla or Alamosa county area that could look to see if there was a will filed there for him at his death.
